World People Productions presents HASHASHIN in this episode with a set made of all the 9 tracks of his upcoming album, called "Hard Drop Café". Hashashin is the psytrance project of Belgium based musician Quentin Van Houtte. His musical journey started in the early 90's as a drummer playing metal beats in the basement with his elder brother on guitars. In 2004, he got violently hit by electronic music and eventually built a home studio to focus all his energy on music production. He joined the Brussels crew "Elektro Magnetik" in 2009, and was signed on by "Green Tree Records" later in 2013. Since 2017, he is sailing on the "World People Production" boat and is also a resident artist for "High Frequencies". He released more than 60 tracks, including a full album and 2 EP’s besides being featured on numerous VA’s. His music oscillates between 148 to 152 bpm, providing strong and groovy basslines, tribal hypnotic percussions, twisted organic synth textures and funny samples bursting dancefloors into a powerful explosion.

It is finally time to release my second album: Mio (along with a long ramble about it)

This has been an incredible journey to make over the last two years and I am overjoyed to share it with you. Each track was made with intention and purpose both musically and personally to create a Psytrance album that is designed to be listened to from start to finish – as well as work individually on dancefloors. Over the coming weeks, after release, I will take you all through each track and its meaning and creation.

I streamed the writing of all these tracks on Twitch as I strongly believe that music is meant to be a shared experience and build community. It was amazing to let everybody into the process and to have their live feedback and share knowledge between all of us.

Part of what makes music so much fun for me is the learning and the challenge to push myself and push the music. I wanted to do that with this album and tried to use unique methods of sound design in each track with a clear concept of the track before even starting – part of this challenge was to not use FM at all throughout the whole thing.

The album is named Mio for my young Nephew whom I adore. It was meant to be released on his 4th birthday, but due to distributor-based-boring-administrative reasons got delayed by a couple of weeks. He is moving further away from me and this felt like a great opportunity to toast him!

I have had the BEST time making this album and have loved seeing people’s reactions on the dancefloor to it so thank you all and I really hope that you enjoy it and understand the intentions behind it.

A huge thanks to Al Shanka  for the mastering, Struan  for the amazing artwork everyone at Bom Shanka Music, Tadhg and Josh Eritas for being great friends and dealing with my crippling lack of self confidence and bloody all of yous!

Here is the set i played at Shankra to honor our great friend and labelmate Bruno, Module Virus who passed away after battling with cancer. It was a magical moment,  the second the set was over it started raining. This set contains some of his best of, collaborations, recent and unreleased work. Big thanks to Mahi from Shankra for suggesting this set in his memory, Bom Shanka music for providing me with music which was released on their label, where Bruno was a member for many years - unfortunately i couldn't load that batch in time. Big thanks to Boom Festival and Ozora - you fullfilled his lifetime dreams by giving his music the stage he dreamed of since he started making music.  Much thanks also for everyone who supported Bruno in his too short but colorful life. It made him happy to play his music to people and see them dance.
