A love letter to rave culture, ‘199X’ is the debut artist album from Anjunabeats stalwart Damion ‘Damo’ Houchen, also known as Genix.

The LP is a departure from the sound Genix is best known for. Through the late 2000's and 2010's, Genix was well known for his textured, melodic take on trance. He caught the ear of Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk, securing releases on both Armada and Vandit. Genix arrived on Anjunabeats in 2010 and immediately became a mainstay in Above & Beyond’s sets with tracks like ‘Aura’, ‘Destinations’ and ‘Black Water’ (the latter written with regular touring partner Sunny Lax).

From those origins, Genix has blossomed into a mainstay in the trance scene. As his stature grew, so did his approach to his music:

“There have been so many influences [on my sound]; DJs, producers, events and the thousands of records I’ve bought over the years. I don’t try to be any one genre, some people think I produce less trance sometimes, but if you have followed my career from the start it’s always had tech influences. I think any producer should stick to the sounds they love, if it makes me jump out of my seat when I’m making it, then that’s all that really matters.

My music is a representation of my personal taste, it’s my expression and my passion being put into sound. It really is an art and I just try to be myself, not a genre, not a certain BPM, just Genix.” - Genix

His Anjunabeats Worldwide 09 mix championed these ideas. It was an iTunes #1 dance album that took us from slow burning progressive to fiery techno, landing somewhere between a Global Underground mix and a classic Gatecrasher compilation.

2020's ‘The Light’ was a bullish electro-edged anthem alongside label mate Grum and hit number one on Beatport’s Melodic Techno chart. DJ support from Etienne De Crecy and Hi-Lo (Oliver Heldens) followed.

A polished DJ, Genix has performed around the world; festival stages at Creamfields (UK), Tomorrowland, EDC, ABGT250 and 350, to more intimate club affairs; Ministry Of Sound, The Hollywood Palladium, Warehouse Project.

These shows don’t live up to the heights of playing 5,597 metres above sea level though, where in April 2019 Genix set the Guinness world record for the highest land DJ set, hosting a party at Everest Base Camp.

‘199X’ is available on all good digital stores now, with 2x12" vinyl available to pre-order on the Anjuna Music Store, due for release in October.

The original ‘Northern Lights’ by DJ Mag world no.7 Gareth Emery was one of dance music’s hottest debut albums of 2010, hitting no.1 in the US iTunes Dance chart within hours of release and featuring ‘Sanctuary’, the undisputed trance anthem of the summer.

Now the album returns with a new twist: ‘Northern Lights Re-Lit’, where Gareth has handpicked a selection of his favourite producers to remix all twelve tracks from the album.

After a very limited promotional mail-out, support from A-list DJs has already been overwhelming, helping generate a massive buzz around the release from industry and fans alike. Tiesto’s already well behind the stunning remix of the Jerome Isma-Ae collaboration ‘Stars’ by Dutch house master Hardwell, Armin van Buuren is all over both the John O’Callaghan remix of ‘Too Dark Tonight’ and the Jorn van Deynhoven remix of ‘All Is Now’, whereas Above & Beyond and Markus Schulz have been championing Ashley Wallbridge’s epic progressive house remix of ‘Arrival’.

To further the celebrations, release parties for the album will be taking place across the world, including a 7-hour set from Gareth at Sankeys in Manchester on the day of release (sold out five weeks in advance), plus Dream in Miami during Ultra Week and the third Northern Lights Concert in Los Angles in April.

In short, it’s set to be another groundbreaking release from Gareth Emery on his label Garuda, further cementing it’s reputation as one of the most forward thinking boutique labels around.

‘Northern Lights Re-Lit’ will be available on CD and digital download from 18th March 2011. Both CD and digital editions will feature a seamlessly blended DJ mix, whilst the digital edition will also include individual versions of every track on the album.

Silk Royal is thrilled to present Silk Remixed 03, the third installment of the annual series, featuring various veteran talents and rising stars in progressive. Three of the tracks included in the compilation were first "previewed" on April's Silk Royal Showcase 03 compilation, while three others (remixes by Terry Da Libra, Dave Cortex, and eleven.five) are completely new. All six cuts are now available for the first time as full, DJ-friendly versions.

Kicking off the compilation is Dan & Sam's celestially-inspired remix of Gregory Esayan's "Innerspace", which was initially featured as the anthemic opener of Silk Royal Showcase 03 (Part One). This tremendously talented duo, hailing from the USA and Australia, continue to demonstrate their penchant for chunky grooves and "classic" progressive arrangements, including ethereal and truly breathtaking breakdowns. Next up is standout label talent Aleksey Yakovlev, who contributes a stunning new interpretation of PROFF's "Starstruck". One of Silk Royal's very first releases, Yakovlev's rendering is a true homage to the golden age of progressive, a genre to which his native Russia has contributed greatly over the years. Celebrated Greek artist Terry Da Libra has chosen to rework another back catalogue favorite: Schodt & Sundriver feat. Aida Fenhel's "Here With Me". Terry's new version is infused with a driving, layered lead, all-the-while maintaining the original's radiant and seductive energy. The euphoric, stadium-filling drop in this one is one of the highlights of the entire release. Aleksey Yakovlev's second contribution is a new remix of Olaen, originally produced by Argentinian label fixture Airdraw. In a similar vein as Terry's take, this track is centered on a newly envisaged stormy and layered bass, as the gorgeous motifs from the original soar overhead. American veteran producer-DJ Dave Cortex, who has contributed to all three editions of Silk Remixed, returns with a characteristically funky and dancefloor-oriented rendering of Peter Illias's "Let Me Be". Joined on this one by recent collaborator Josh Harnois, Cortex delivers another memorable groove, which combines beautifully with various disco-flavored samples and evocative vocal effects. Last but not least, currently one of most supported artists on international progressive and trance radio, American talent eleven.five provides a deep and introspective rendering of Justin Oh's "Good Morning". He has chosen to include some of the vocal samples from the original; otherwise, the track is completely reworked, including new lead melodies and a flirtatious, after-hours groove.
