Text of the ḥadīth:

عنْ [ابنِ مسعودٍ] رَضِي اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: قالَ رسولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لاَ يَحِلُّ دَمُ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ إِلاَّ بِإِحْدَى ثَلاَثٍ: الثَّيِّبِ الزَّانِي، وَالنَّفْسِ بِالنَّفْسِ، وَالتَّارِكِ لِدِينِهِ الْمُفَارِقِ لِلْجَمَاعَةِ. رواه البخاريُّ ومسلمٌ.

From Ibn Masʿūd (رضى الله عنه) who said, “The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said, ‘The blood of a Muslim (who testifies none has the right to be worshipped [in truth] but Allāh and that I am the Messenger of Allāh) is not taken lawfully except in one of three: The adulterer, a life for life and the one who abandons his religion and separates from the jamāʿah (of the Muslims).’” [Related by al-Bukhārī and Muslim]
