Free Jazz For The FreeDoomed

Joe Armon-Jones & Maxwell Owin are forces to be
reckoned with. Both integral parts of the burgeoning South
London jazz scene, these young musicians contribute to numerous
outfits including Ata Kak, Jamie Isaac, MC Pinty, Moses
Boyd Exodus and Ezra Collective, as well as pushing their
own solo projects.

This is their first combined effort.

'Idiom' is the result of multiple collaborations under the
direction of Joe and Maxwell. Featuring Nubya Garcia, Oscar
Jerome and Jake Long, it is heavily influenced by the hardcore
continuum and covers everything from 2-step, broken-beat and
house to jazz and dub.

Having been compared to artists like 4hero, Floating
Points, Harvey Sutherland and Moodymann all in the
same breath, Joe & Maxwell are already garnering support
from Radio 6 Music's Gilles Peterson, Musica Maconda's
Tim Garcia and Jazz FM's Chris Philips. This is an
accomplished body of work by some of the most exciting
young talent in London right now.

JWords is a producer, composer and an Afro-Latina woman breaking boundaries in black electronic music. An arsenal of synthesizers and drum machines have become her signature in creating dynamic live performances in venues throughout NYC and the east coast. On her debut project Sín Señal. inspired by a distorted electronic message that appeared to her from her mother's old television, JWORDS sets up to impress sharing her world of sound from the underground of NYC to Jersey featuring rising rap wunderkinds MIKE & Maassai.

Otis Sandsjö: tremendoce (We Jazz Records digi single 24.4.2020)

Berlin-based saxophonist Otis Sandsjö returns with his new album "Y-OTIS 2" on 24 July on Helsinki's We Jazz Records. An inspired sequel to his 2018 debut "Y-OTIS", the album takes the concept of beat-driven "liquid jazz" created by Sandjsö and his close associate producer/bassist Petter Eldh (Koma Saxo) onto the next level. The lead track "tremendoce" is based on an infectious flute loop which features Swedish jazz greats Jonas Kullhammar and Per "Texas" Johansson.
