File Updated: Vocal completely redone with some adjusted lyrics to sniper them an ickle better. - I think this one may have roared itself to the top of the table for me and my fave moi tunes... Will have to let it simmer and see. Always a strong bias for the current ideas so...

This is the third song I've made from my Grandads book of his poetry. The other poems finding the internet as songs are in this playlist. We're up to 5 complete and I have about 35 left. You might agree we have a beautiful merging of my Grandfather's pine for peace during the troubles which raged in Ireland then, 55 years ago. These are mirrored in most morally grounded hearts today for the Palestinian people. So below I've adapted Papas poem in an attempt to bring his energy to the present and sure maybe throw them a bit of luck ☘️ They need it now!

📝 Description
"Lingering Light in Winter’s Embrace" is a chamber composition for eight instruments, deeply rooted in the expressive tradition of the Russian musical school, profoundly inspired by the legacies of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Georgy Sviridov. The piece seeks to capture the ephemeral beauty of memory, weaving an atmosphere of tender melancholy and quiet contemplation, as if illuminated by the delicate glow of a winter landscape.

At its heart lies the theme of nostalgia — a longing for moments lost, expressed through a lyrical dialogue between the strings (first and second violins, viola, cello, and double bass) and the poignant timbre of the winds (flute, oboe, and clarinet). The strings evoke heartfelt emotions, whispering tales of cherished recollections, while the winds add a breath of airy lightness and a subtle shimmer of hope. The double bass provides a resonant foundation, grounding the composition in the timeless embrace of the natural world.

This work transcends a specific narrative, instead inviting listeners on an emotional journey — a meditation on the fleeting nature of time, the enduring power of the human spirit, and the universal search for harmony. "Lingering Light in Winter’s Embrace" is a sonic painting, a tapestry of sound designed to stir the soul and awaken the imagination. Williams works in a team of workers preventing suicides. Without judging and with a lot of compassion he try’s to save lives but it is a tough job and sometime depressing. How long is he be able to hold on to his mission.

Musical notes: This is a variation on John Barry's theme for the 1971 TV show The Persuaders!. It is a challenge that my colleague and great composer Serge Smulders gave me. I could not resist as that TV show was one of my favourite those years. However, may I say that John Barry synthesized version of that time is now a bit outdated. Nevertheless, a classic is a classic hence revisiting it.
