Hailing from Christchurch and the greater Canterbury region, Kentucky Fried Children was formed in late 2012 as a chance for Sammy Jay Dawson (Bass, Vocals), Jayden Bowley & Glen Dwyer (Guitar) to tip their hats to the Blues, R’nB and Southern Rock music that has inspired them.

Performing locally in a list of venues as varied as the artists they paid homage to, Kentucky Fried Children began to forge their own unique sound. Combining the styles of the Mississippi Delta Bluesmen, Chicago’s Chess Records, The British explosion, 70’s Classic & Southern Rock and the bands own love for a diverse range of contemporary artists such as Queens Of The Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine and Tribe Called Quest.

The winter of 2013 saw the addition of Frazer Charlton on drums, as well as Kentucky Fried Children’s entry into The RDU Round-up, a Christchurch music competition hosted by the RDU radio station, in which the band would finish second place. 
With the line-up secure, the four-piece began to write their own original music inspired by the Artists that had influenced them to play music together in the first place.

To date Kentucky Fried Children have grown from strength to strength, establishing themselves as one of Christchurch’s most outstanding acts, playing alongside artists including, I Am You, The Laon, The Nearvedder, Setting Fire To Stacy, Ekko Park, Pieces of Molly, The Deep Six, Von Voin Strum and Beastwars, as well as headlining a number of their own shows.

Seb was vaccinated with a phonograph needle at a young age and has been head banging to all types of music ever since. As a multi-instrumentalist, he writes all the music & lyrics and records everything himself in the comfort of his own home. He is influenced by classic rock, acoustic and electric blues, reggae, folk and Indian classical music. Seb's inspirations include nature, animals, reading and time travel.

From Christchurch, New Zealand, "Stonehurst is an unstoppable force, or an immovable object, they're climbing to the top and ain't going to stop!"

Tim Hunt on Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Ben McGillivray-Drums, David Hunt-Bass and Braden (Woot) Southee-Lead Guitar. With their powerful projectile vocals, Iron Maiden-esque grooves, "Rolling slabs of Sabbath like riffs" and wailing classical guitar solos, they attract new fans seamlessly with each show. 
After featuring in the Christchurch Chartdisc's 'Hard 'n' Heavy compilation 2010', their full 10 track debut album was produced and engineered by Thom O'Conner at Quicksand Studios then mixed and mastered at Whitebait Studios by David Cooper. They released the long awaited self titled album 'Stonehurst' with a successful NZ tour. 

Stonehurst has shared the stage all over New Zealand with the likes of International bands Paul Dianno (Original Iron Maiden vocalist), Lord, and Looking Glass, and national favourites such as Osmium, Left or Right, Devilskin, and Sleeping Dogs plus many more... 

The future proves more than promising for Stonehurst, as they progress into a professional status, preparing for goals such as festivals, international tours and  the suspenseful wait of their upcoming albums.

Antreffen tut ihr uns nicht nur in unserer Heimatstadt Hagen, sondern vor allem auch in vielen Kneipen weit verteilt.
