Dexter has long been an underground mainstay. He has released on labels like No Art and Gruuv and is never far from the higher end of the digital charts, such is the effectiveness of his music.

Give Me More opens up with a superbly stripped back and slippery minimal house groove that oozes late night charm. The warped synths, trippy fx and the muttered vocals make for pure nocturnal darkness. Heist is a punchy track with a supple house rhythm and more bendy synth lines and smeared pads making it another cosmic gem. The Pressure is another gorgeously deep, feathery light groove that suspends you in mid air as a world of tiny sound designs and distant details occupy your mind.

Remixing this one is Detroit mainstay, Visionquest founder, and always on point studio innovator Shaun Reeves. His version is laced up with slick boom-bap drums and filtered vocals. It's characterful minimal filled with silky rhythms that get deep into your psyche.
This is a typically excellent EP of forward looking sounds from Leftroom.

Leftroom Records opened its doors in August of 2005 in Nottingham, England. The label is the creation of Matt Tolfrey (Owner). Musically, it was one of the first labels of its kind in the UK, showcasing the off centre sound of house, disco and techno.

Distributed now by Above Board, the first release surfaced for the label on the 5th of December 2005 and was entitled ‘The Extended Family EP’ encapsulating the spirit of Leftroom, a place where a core set of artists could grow and experiment with their sound. The Leftroom family consists of a few key artists including Laura Jones, Huxley, Gavin Herlihy, Sam Russo and Matt himself.

April 2006 saw the launch of Leftroom's sublabel, Leftroom Limited. Musically Leftroom Limited brings a new dimension to Leftroom as a whole, concentrating on anything that wobbles from straight up house, to techno and even the uplifting. The first ep for the sublabel was Tolfrey & Sylvester presents: Popeye-Spinach Disko, a slow brewing, techy, disco record, which came out the end of May 06 with many plaudits. 

With Matt being label owner he proved his A&R capabilities are pin-point in securing one of 2007’s biggest tracks, Ito & Star’s ‘Suduko Kid’ and one of 2008’s biggest crossover tracks, Rocha and Lewinger’s ‘Down Seq’. The summer of 2011 brought you Laura Jones's 'Love In Me' which was a global phenomenon, and Maceo Plex's remix of the same track was Leftroom's first no 1 overall seller on Beatport. In 2012 Kate Simko's 'Go On Then' featuring Jem Cooke stole all headlines, and the same year brought you Matt's debut artist album 'Word Of Mouth.' 

With new albums and mix compilations not to far away, and a whole host of new releases, Leftroom is sure to carry on where it left off which is delivering high quality, diverse dance music.

I like most music genres and have a strong preference for most electronic music.  I love progressive house, techno, house, disco house, breaks and more.  It was in San Francisco that I attended 100s of events at clubs, undergrounds and festivals.  Some highlights include Sasha & Digweed at the Gift Center, Underworld at Coachella, Opel Productions Halloween parties at the Gingerbread House, Brass Tax Halloween Renegades, the Watermelon boat parties with the likes of Darren Emerson and of course Burning Man.

I'm back in Seattle now and while I don't get to as many shows as I used to,  I like that Sound Cloud allows me to stay connected to the music I like and explore new sounds.

(2022) And whadda ya know, I now have decks of my own and have been enjoying the learning progression of DJ'g and play the occasional house party. Lots and lots to learn but never too late:)

Chemical Bros, Groove Armada, Orbital, Underworld, Nick Warren, Sasha, Krafty Kuts, Jody Wisternoff, Etienne de Crecy (Super Discount) are my all time favorite producers/DJs.  Some friends I also enjoy listening to include Luxxury, Jonboy, Sam Haas, DJ Loryn and Erik Rumors.  You should check them out on Sound Cloud as well.
