So that was the final night at the Paradise Farage. Sadly the club has had to be closed down, demolished and the site turned into a giant lorry park as a result of Brexit. For our last show, we travelled to Ray Mang's studio and streamed live from deepest East London with Mr Mang himself, a Leftside Wobble guest mix and me. "Really looking forward to The Disco Express event in London at Prince of Wales in November. Very happy to be part of this great line up for the party.

To celebrate and look forward to the good times ahead, I recorded this mix to give you a taste of what’s to come on the night. 

It features a load of tunes which have been really doing it for me over the summer months. Some unreleased, some new, some old, some new versions of old etc all thrown into the mix. Energy wise the focus was on what I imagine would be the soundtrack at The Disco Express.

"It's safe to say that there would be no house music, and no dance music as we know it, without François Kevorkian. The French-born, New York-based DJ started remixing disco records in the mid-'70s when he was just a teenager, and became a pioneer of the form alongside names like Larry Levan, Tom Moulton and Walter Gibbons. And though he would become a house icon, he became especially known for the trippy "dub" mixes on the B-sides of records, which often eschewed the structure and vocals of the songs he was remixing in favour of excursions into the unknown."

I had planned to post this in the New Year as this first instalment of Dub Disco Deli (recorded in 2008) has never been on SoundCloud, but I decided to upload it today in memory of Terry Hall. His music didn't just awaken me musically, it ignited my political awareness and educated me about the importance of social justice in a manner that was far more tangible than anything I learnt in the classroom. RIP Terry, your spirit lives on. x
