King Midas Sound have returned!
Reverting to the original duo of Roger Robinson and Kevin Martin, ’Solitude’ is their first release since the Fennesz collaboration ‘Edition1’(Ninja Tune), which dropped in 2015.
Solitude is a meditation on loss. A loss that has been enforced and unexpected. It’s about processing the irrational and incessant feelings of rejection and loneliness, like listening to the tenderness of love disappear and it being replaced by skewed logic. Kevin Martin provides a predominantly beatless musical backdrop, simultaneously minimal and menacing, but periodically extremely beautiful. It stalks the isolated characters created by Robinson’s haunting vocals, as the poet shapes, the protagonists troubled lives into increasingly desolate narratives.
For the artwork, the pair has here collaborated with Japanese contemporary photographer Daisuke Yokota. His mastery of monochrome tone and texture perfectly matches the word/sound power of KMS, mirroring the same obsession with atmosphere, density, and finish.
A soundtrack of pure melancholy which demands total immersion, radiating desolation and dread. The appeal of Solitude is in the oppositional binaries it drives on: technology and emotion, talk and drones, overt and hidden feelings, love and melancholy. Immerse yourself in its mourning.

For as long as there has been dance music in Dublin, there has been techno. The city's affair with the genre runs as deep today as it did back-in-the-day, when out of the depths of Parnell Street came D1 Recordings, beginning a journey that lead to music-making, clubs, citywide festivals — an adventure that has proved it possible to create world-class music, specifically a unique and influential genre of Dublin-based electronic music, with a self-determined ethic and a global reach.

Founded by Eamonn Doyle, D1’s maverick approach is the stuff of legend and rather than let it go untold, St. Patrick's Festival are proud to mark 25 years of D1 Recordings and its impact on the city, its dance floors, musicians and all those touched by D1’s vision and ambition, here and abroad. A six-piece vinyl album set featuring 55 new tracks from 45 Irish and international artists, “D1×25”, will be launched at Hen's Teeth Gallery on Friday 15th March, and then the celebrations will continue over the weekend, culminating with a full takeover of Yamamori and Tengu, with a night full of music from D1 Recordings’ artists, over 3 areas, featuring 20 live acts & DJ's.

Born on April, 21st, 1972 Petey was always sure to become a football star – he breathed & lived football. Playing for Bert Bell DYW and Downingtown High School, he achieved outstanding results: In 10th grade he was a starter on offense and defense, playing every position but lineman. This rewarded him to the All South Eastern Pennsylvania Team and a listing on most Division I University recruiting lists.
But in 11th grade, Petey was challenged with the diagnosis of a severe kidney disease, keeping him from playing in his Junior season. When returning his Senior year, he was only allowed to perform limited duties as Kicker, Wide Receiver and Punter. Nevertheless, he still received the league's MVP this year. His passion for the game and unlimited support for his team members under these harsh circumstances was rewarded by naming a High School Football Award after him – since 1988, the Petey Nicholson Award is dedicated to the player with the most outstanding achievements on leadership, dedication and teamwork.
In January 1998, a kidney transplant offered new perspectives on life, only to fail in 2004 – leaving him with the need to return back on dialysis. A further set-back was a series of 13 heart attacks in 2009, forcing him to enter the organ donor list for a kidney as well as a heart. Based on these experiences, Petey tried to raise more kidney awareness, especially on behalf of the common over-use of non-prescription drugs. He shared this at several forums and his positive outlook on life despite the deadly disease was an inspiration to his audience.
After the shattered football career, Petey directed his energy into the production of Electronic music. His creativity and self-taught large variety of techniques offered him the chance to live appearances in the PA area and Detroit, MI. The peak was a center stage performance in front of 20, 000 people at the Electronic Music Festival 2009 in Milan, Italy. Under his artist name AEOD abbreviation for Alter Egos of Dance he released songs of 8 different artists each with individual music styles. The songs are very vibrant, uplifting, spiritual and show a deep inspiration. This inspiration carried forward as a co-founder of Rock Word Church, where his mission was to bring souls to GOD.
Petey will always be remembered by his family and a large group of close friends, who admired most his unbelievable positive view on life, providing inspiration to everyone he came across. His most enjoyment was his son Jaxson Paul, to whom he was an outstanding caring father. To his fiancée Bettina he was best friend, soulmate and uplifting support. His unconditional love and caring for his family will be dearly missed by all. It is of great comfort to know he is in the arms of the Lord.
