It’s cold, it’s grey and the summer has never felt further away. So if you’ve seen us skipping down the street today with a big grin on our face in spite of the weather you’d be forgiven for wondering what was the cause of our sunny disposition. The answer is simple: we have an exclusive mix from fast rising Indian DJ Blurry Slur as the latest edition of our Mix Of The Day series, and all things considered, it’s a mix of serious distinction.

Coming to our attention via esteemed Mumbai party starters Regenerate, (who he’ll stepping up to the wheels of steel for alongside A Guy Called Gerald on February 21 as part of their open air By The Pier series) we thought the time was right to welcome Blurry Slur to deliver a mix for us here at Data Transmission in our never ending quest to bring you tomorrows brightest talents today.

What a year! 

We met so many great artists, made a bunch of new friends and had one heck of a summer. 
Watching this community grow bigger made us want to create an appropriate picture of the things that already sprung from it and also of things to come. 

Trying to condense all the creativity that came to life during the past few months, we put together something that reflects our journey and features as many of the directions we're headed in as possible.

Days are disappearing and nights are taking over. We witness a burst of colour just before it clears space for the bright white blanket. And this new season brings another Amselcom release.

Sweden’s Victor Norman is guided by the signs of the time in his extraordinary track “Hymn”. He gently unites depth and gloom with fragile melancholy to form a moving and sensual track.

Bernstein and Birds of Mind attend to the original, each concentrating on a different characteristic. While the former adds drive to underline the verve of the tune, the French duo intensifies the melodic and frisky side of the track.

To round off the release, Victor teams up with slowmo specialist Harro Triptrap in a hot turn. “Mimikry” first appears to be a peaceful creature, but its rogue character eventually shows itself.

Winter treats us to storms and nights of fire. And these feelings are captured by the photographer Xiao Yang, adding the perfect optical surrounding to the release.

Loud Neighbor is a gear based, techno live act from planet Earth formed by Christina Steel and Martín García Blaya that has been sequencing machines together throughout the Americas and Europe for 9 years and counting. Upon leaving Brooklyn to set base in Berlin the duo started working on Interference Pattern, Loud Neighbor's second album and latest mutation. 

The title track was the gravitational force that pulled everything together. The simple, optical effect of intersecting lines creating the illusion of movement is what inspired the video collaboration with the Berlin based artist, Marmor. Loud Neighbor went to the studio with the intention to make this vision sound. Serendipitously Ernesto Romeo (Argentinean synthesist Jedi master) came into the picture along with his VCS3 &  Sistemas Modulares Núcleo. That grey afternoon in Berlin, the core of Interference Pattern and Kosmonauten was captured in time. 

Shortly after Michael Talbot’s book, The Holographic Universe, fell off the shelf. The author states that time and space as we perceive are just illusions. Like the shadows in Plato’s cave, reality as we see it is just a projection of a reality inaccessible to us. The parallel between these ideas and the op-art techniques they were exploring with video defined the concept of this release. 

Over the next months these two tracks evolved into eleven, creating an album full of broken techno beats that dip into electro, ambient and house. Field recordings, found footage and Christina's vocals narrate the journey into this holographic universe.  The Interference Pattern video also spawned into a series, which can be currently seen in the video installation by LN at Echo Echo in Berlin.

The long awaited first release of Stavroz on Denature Records has arrived! This 5-track EP starts with "Zorrow". This track sounds like an invitation to wander and get lost in the jungle. By the second track, 'Perron 11' the tempo gets more vigorous opening the way to the main track 'Kasambila' and its enchanting ethnic vibes. On the other side of the EP, 'Xs Pls' (pronounce it Extra Small Please) has this unique instrumental groove that the four-piece band masters so well. The EP ends with the title 'It was All A Ruse', a melancholic ballad through mystical lands.

Renowned globally for his contribution to the industry, the inimitable musical force that is Paul Woolford joins the Hot Creations family this Autumn with two slices of unadulterated house.

Speaking of the EP, Woolford explains, “‘House Hits’ is about super-direct tracks with no pretense, of all persuasions, that have created the key moments from my sets. Built to absolutely rock clubs, basements and warehouses the world over.”

The EP kicks off with Story Of My Life. The track uses an old-school house vocal, prominent drum pads and an undeniable groove that’s sure to gets dance floors pulsating. The EP then leads into Don’t Waste My Time, a percussive led, pounding techno number that utilises ghetto house vocals and a low-slung bassline.

Paul Woolford has been a key figure in the house music scene for more than two decades. He’s leant his musical talent to over 200 records for the likes of Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, Underworld and Krystal Klear amongst others. Woolfordhas had the privilege of recording not one, but 5 coveted Essential Mixes for Radio 1 and under his Special Request alias, he recently recorded the much hyped FabricLive91. He’s also held down long-standing residencies at renowned Leed’s club night Back to Basics and Space on Sundays in Ibiza. Woolford’s relentless energy and tireless diversity continues to see his career develop and evolve.
