Having been involved with Regal's Irish debut back in 2016, five years later we see the producer thriving in the dance scene, with countless releases, his own label, remixes, club shows and festival appearances, to now releasing his debut album.

Regal’s genre-bending sound has been capturing the hearts and minds of ravers and industry heads since 2012. His staunch productions have garnered support from techno’s well-established vanguard, including noted collaborations, projects and remixes with Amelie Lens, Hadone, Nina Kraviz, Ellen Allien, Emmanuel Top and Len Faki. Regal’s sound graces clubland with full-throttle impact – whether at the legendary Berghain, Awakenings, Possession or his residency at Khidi in Tibilisi. Alongside his own productions, Regal’s imprint Involve has become established for delivering sharpened 303 infused acid sounds. The imprint has welcomed artists including Boston 168, FJAAK and Alignment and is now also the home for his debut album this June.

“The concept has changed a few times over the past few years” says Regal. The focus was to make an album that tells the story of his personal struggles and self-discovery, a dark insight into the DJ’s life, influenced mainly by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’, where Dante has to cross all the layers of hell and purgatory to arrive in paradise.

If you’ve come across Amelie Lens’ all-new fabric presents mix, then the name of Ahl Iver shall definitely ring a bell. In addition to a forthcoming appearance at the next Exhale party in Antwerp in February 2020, where he’ll get to share the stage with Richie Hawtin, Helena Hauff, Kobosil, Stephanie Sykes and the whole LENSKE family, new sensation Ahl Iver is undeniably on the cusp of big things, and his debut EP, ‘Haunted Patterns’, sets the tone in gutsy fashion.

The opening track ‘7AM’ features a punchy gabber kick and rush, hard-hitting drums and a healthy dose of slimy acid squelch to leave you dazed and confused for a while. Adding his ever efficient spin to the original, LENSKE mainstay Milo Spykers reworks the groove onto straightforward clubby railway as he sure knows well how to subdue the dancers through the most wildly enjoyable ankle-twisting/brain-melting manoeuvres.

As its name suggests the title-track ‘Haunted Patterns’ is a spooky dance floor affair. Allowing a 4/4 hell to break loose on the basement while enveloping it in further hypnotic synths and intense cosmic vibrations. Lovers of classic Altern-8 style hardcore shall find the perfect outlet to their headbanging fantasies in the euphoria-inducing ‘Rave Simulator’. With four cuts tailored to take clubs and dance floors by storm, Ahl Iver steps up for his debut record on LENSKE.

AIROD returns to Amelie Lens’ Lenske imprint with ‘Venom EP’, featuring four entrancing techno cuts. 

Parisian DJ, Producer and Elixyr Records label boss AIROD returns to Amelie Lens’ Lenske for his third EP on the label. Following 2019’s ‘Rave Cycle’ and ‘Voltage’ EP’s, this year’s LP on Molekül and appearances at some of Europe’s most revered clubs and showcases including the EXHALE event series, the Frenchman has proven himself as a dominant force in today's techno scene. 

‘Assassin’s Walk’ welcomes us with rolling kicks and looping sirens accompanied by foreboding synths that orchestrate a deep sense of tension. As these fade, explosive drums perturb the peace again with the addition of a wavering acid line and incessant hi-hats that conjure urgency and pure exhilaration. Returning to the familiar AIROD sound we’ve been acquainted with is ‘Topaz’, employing pounding kick drums, jolting sirens and an indiscernible cut up vocal sample to engage listeners into an ambient delirium. Sharp white noise slices through the resounding beat in a rhythmic assault after the first drop and characterize the remainder of the track.

Title track Venom is imitative of its name with a malicious crescendo and striking electro-esque keys. Though this cut has an electro-feel, AIROD manages to retain the booming kicks and ominous atmosphere created in earlier tracks. We’re rewarded with a swift change of pace with ‘Enchantment’, a delicate mantra that steps away from the usual toughness of AIROD’s sound, but does so without compromising on intensity. Major chords ring out, constituting overwhelming feelings of lightness and joy, with heavy drums sitting comfortably under euphoric pads. Echoing hi-hats and a fleeting vocal gradually submerge into the drawn-out keys to close on a feeling of elation.
