Symphony of Shifting Tides Redux

And now for something completely different. With the upcoming re-release of my first novel, I've been working on touching up some of the songs that accompanied it. This is one of many of them that I touched up while my co-author and I rewrote the book. I'll be releasing the book's album sometime in 2025, so stay tuned. Another song I've redone from the first Elancia album. I'm going to be re-releasing the album alongside the book. This is a new take on the quieter arrangement of Lyrikos's theme. I'll be redoing a few more of these in the leadup to the album's release later this year. Artwork is by Lioness Paladin.

Rain Tears and Cigarettes

While Emma and I were re-writing the novelization of Elancia's first book, a lot of new content was added (and a lot of fat trimmed out.) One of the things that was exciting to touch on was restoring some parts of the narrative that had to be cut from the previous release. That said, restoring that meant a new song! (The old one no longer fit.) That gave me a chance to make something pretty unique from the rest of the album.

Sunken Starship

One of my favorite Elancia songs to play, so it was kind of a no-brainer to redo it again for the re-release of the first book/album. I went for a bit quieter/slower of a mood this time, and I'm pretty happy with it.

Light in Murk

Verse and company sneak aboard a train carrying parts for a super weapon that could bring a continent to its knees. Despite this, for most of the people on the train, it's just another day on the job. Verse spends most of the journey being an idiot.
This song replaces one from the old album that I wasn't too fond of. Since it's a pretty important section of the book, I wanted to do something a bit varied.

Military Supply Train

Another song to accompany my upcoming novel Symphony of Shifting Tides.
This one is the theme for some of the villages in the country of Lurafelle, which is mostly populated by fox-people. Their economy revolves around lumber and logging.

Crossroads

A far far different take on one of the themes from the original Symphony of Shifting Tides album. I honestly really did not much like the original at all. It was an attempt at ambience, but it just didn't fit the mood I was going for. I started over completely for scratch for the new album. I hope you all enjoy it♥

Temple of Fate

Remastered another track for my upcoming album release Elancia: Symphony of Shifting Tides. This one is an arrangement of the main character, Verse's theme used for action-oriented scenes. I've redone this song about 8 times since first doing the book/album combo (the first time was in 2009 or so) and I've never been happy with it until now. I think this is a keeper! It'll appear on the new album along with a few older versions.

Night Field

Completely redid this old track from the ground up. It's definitely a lot different than the one I did about 10 years ago (give or take,) but this one jives more with the mood I'm going for with this album. Enjoy!

As I worked through the first Elancia album to redo it, I realized that there needed to be more than one bar theme, considering how often the characters find themselves either in one or drinking to poorly deal with the stress they've been put under. This one's a lot more sleazy than 'that old saloon' which was very much on purpose.

I didn't originally intend to touch up the intro track to Symphony of Shifting Tides, but I felt it'd be wrong not to have touched up the very first track on the album -- especially considering all the older tracks will be upscaled MP3s.
I will say, though, I had no idea how insurmountable that'd be -- I don't have any of the software or even the computer I made the original on back in 201X. I actually had to do almost all of those from scratch based on what little MIDI data I could recover from the old MIDI I made in the 2000s. Long story short, it came out great! Different, but great. I didn't lean on the guitar in the intro as much (read: I omitted it completely) and am still iffy on that, but overall I think I got it sounding about as close as I can to the original. Enjoy!
