Cityscape

A playlist for a specific set of tracks from the HardSpeed project. Gathered up for no particular reason and totally not part of an evil plot to create something new with the project that will take years and years and years to complete. Enjoy.

Target's Mansion

This _just_ missed the cutoff for my last HardSpeed album. Figure it'll go on the next one! Definitely a slower/more melancholy song for that project. I want to do more like this in the future!

VF - The Rest is not Enough

I always wanted to adapt "Pocket Watch" from my Elancia series into HardSpeed's 80s style. It took a very long time to settle on the right sound for it, but here it is. Enjoy!

Keepsake

A track off my upcoming (as of yet unnamed) HardSpeed album. This one's a bit more late 70s than 80s! Art is by Proto.

Proximity

I've had this kicking around on my harddrive for a while now. I couldn't quite figure out what I wanted to do with it, or how I wanted it to sound for a while. I decided to just upload it in its most recent state. Enjoy!

Cosmopolitan

I didn't even expect I'd have this one done in time for the album, but it worked out. This is the theme for one of the characters from the HardSpeed project -- A Space-warship named Frank. Don't worry, he's friendly, and spends most his time walking around in a little industrial robot body. He's married to Lurline, whose theme "Shotgun River" was on the last album

Dear SEGA, I hear that legal troubles regarding Sonic 3's original soundtrack might be part of what's holding you back from a re-release of Sonic 3 ( www.sonic3remastered.com/ More info here)
I suggest an alternative solution to trying to get the rights to use the songs that are currently providing a roadblock in greenlighting the project.

[Rather than paring act 2 down like the original song did, I ramped it up. I couldn't resist paring it down in a few spots to bring back the feeling of isolation the original had in spades.]

Back during the original run of Planet Aloha (before I revamped everything in Return, even!) I never got around to making a song for the science/botany department. I didn't for the Military, either, which I've since rectified. Now science finally has its own song 5 years later! anyway, I'd first set out to make Qeshi his own theme for the project, but I accidentally made this instead. It ended up working out well.

Science Department

I got hired (along with two other fantastic musicians!) to do a song for this pretty rad project called StarBuster!  This is the theme for the intro stage, which is the only one I've done so far. Awaken

Even more HardSpeed music! Elza concept art by Renz.
Space Pirate Elza is notorious across Federation Space. Despite the fact that only ever steals food, ammunition and fuel for her ever-growing crew. Elza has only been sailing the stars for 10 years, but is one of the most wanted pirates in the Galaxy simply for the fact that she likes to taunt the Federation. No one knows quite what the federation did to her, but it must have been bad. Some say that's where all the scars on her face came from. Some kind of experiment gone wrong during the mechanoid wars perhaps? Maybe they took her children from her?  
Elza considers herself the first member of the "Galaxy's free peoples," and believes in free love, free-flowing booze and not having to listen to anybody. She embraces pirate aesthetic, too.  One last fun fact: All the Tsu'ghui look exactly like her. Is she behind the Tsu'ghui attacks?
(And yes, her character design is literally orange spaceVerse. :| )

Space Pirate Elza

Another HardSpeed song here! This is the battle theme for the Tsu'ghui, a mysterious race of killer clones. It seems like they're being controlled by someone.
The beginning of HardSpeed's narrative follows a squad of Tsu'ghui on a routine mission that turns out to be anything but. I wanted their battle theme to differ heavily from the normal battle theme.

TsuGhuiBattle

New HardSpeed track.
This one has to do with more thoughtful, pensive moments for the characters -- specifically Capel, the main character. Capel barely even understands how people work, and yet she desperately wants to live among them. Every step forward is two steps back. Sometimes, she isn't even sure it's worth it to keep trying.

Mostly done using the Korg Wavestation. I started out trying to decipher the patterns one of the presets had, and ended up reproducing the sounds manually instead. From there, the rest of the song formed. :V

Steady Lights

This will be the first track on my upcoming album, HardSpeed. It serves as the opening text crawl more or less. It has a little more orchestral flair than most of the other HardSpeed music. Part of this is due to the main character of this album, Sydney, being a cello player. (Don't worry, Capel still appears.)
I've been working on something big-ish behind the scenes related to HardSpeed as a whole, and this song was definitely a good step in getting it started. For now, expect a new album out sometime this summer!
