this set was recorded during DJ Rashad's first appereance in Germany (http://www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?234189), which was also one of his first gigs in Europe ever. originally we recorded it for our own archive, but with his passing we wanted to share this with all of you. we will always be thankful for the inspiration he was to musicians and fans world-wide, us included, and hope that this recording will contribute to his legacy.

Xzavier Stone has always made his influences known. A DJ, producer and vocalist hailing from Zurich, Switzerland, it has been the sounds of far-away scenes, like noughties-era US rap or regional club motifs, that he’s sought to channel in his own work – and way – via labels like Fractal Fantasy as well as his own imprint XZA.

It’s XZA that Stone returned to last month to share his second EP 'WHATZ UP', a slim three-tracker packed with his unique set of playful, slick sonic hallmarks. Here, it was the “evanescent era of Atlanta bass” that served as the heaviest of writing inspirations. 

So consider this a natural next step in his appreciation journey: an Atlanta bass specialist mix built with a forward-facing Xzavier Stone twist, shared in further homage to the melodic microgenre.
