If you weren't around in the late 70's and early 80's, it's really hard to describe just how big Teddy Pendergrass aka "Teddy" was back then. He had gone solo a few years before releasing the "Teddy album" which is one of my personal favorites of his. He had smash hits like "Come Go With Me" (Which I mixed a few years ago) and maybe his biggest song "Turn Off The Lights." But this song "If You Know" wasn't quite. as popular but its always been another absolute favorite of mine. Enjoy...

This short DJ set is simply a heartfelt musical celebration, celebrating the life and times of the now late great Mr. Roy Ayers! I've stated a few times that his iconic song "Running Away" was so influential to me and my young DJ and music loving friends growing up in Detroit in the early 1980's. I still "hear" it blasting from one of my DJ mentors basements way back in the day. From Roy's cool jazzy vibes in the 1970's, to his music being heavily sampled  in Hip-Hop all through the 90's Mr. Ayers' musical fingerprint was literally everywhere. But it's the collaborations that he did with some of the House Music community that was the most fascinating to me. Here he was a "giant" in the music world still partnering with our beloved Dance Music tastemakers. I always thought that was just so cool, but then again Roy Ayers was the epitome of "Cool." May your musical legacy live forever Sir... ∞
