Expect a wise and eclectic selection of Funk, Jazz, Soul, Disco, European & Latin grooves, Afro and Brazilian beats.

Rainer Trüby, ex-member of A Forest Mighty Black and today's master of rare vinyl and wine, is still busy with DJing around the globe (few airports have not seen his metal record box--vinyl, yes!) spreading his musical vision of "good music" delivering in between the different facets of house and electronic music and mixing it up with his beloved roots. Known as part of the Trüby Trio and selector for compilations such as Glücklich or Talkin Jazz, and later Maiden Voyage (Compost) and Beats & Oexle (Sonarkollektiv) you wouldn't challenge his musical taste at all. We're honoured to have him for this fantastic warm-up set at Peti Kupe for another Freilauf session.

For the last 10 years I’ve been releasing this project exploring music that evokes spirituality and a connection to nature. Spiritual music that isn’t necessarily religious in nature and also has a wide musical lens, beyond spiritual jazz or gospel for example.

Spring in my hometown of Montreal always arrives at least 4 weeks later than almost anywhere in the world. And because of our long grueling winters, when springtime arrives in the city you can feel the effect on everyone’s collective mood. There’s a certain indescribable electricity in the air.

This project is dedicated to my mom.
Dedicated to all of us who have survived the storms.

ABOUT THE MIX:

Tommy Soul's mix represents a captivating journey through the Italian music scene of the '80s, focused on funk and Italo Disco. The opening with the intro of Fabrizio De Andrè's "Creuza de Mä" sets the atmosphere, followed by a selection of tracks from labels like Ricordi, Carosello, and Full Time Records.
The range spans from well-known artists like Lucio Dalla and Vasco Rossi to less mainstream productions like MEO's "Chichita" and Tom Hooker's "Talk With Your Body." The mix includes instrumental tracks like Topo & Roby's "Under The Ice" and KOTO's "Chinese Revenge."

The set culminates with hits like Kano's "Can't Hold Back" and Ago's "You Make Me Do It," reflecting Italy's significant contribution to the international disco scene. The rarity and musical quality stand out, particularly with Kash's "Percussion Sundance," an authentic gem of Italo Disco.
