Musical styles include the traditional sounds of the indigenous peoples as well as sounds from countless visitors and settlers who have come to these beautiful, diverse countries throughout the years. We'll explore the music born of this fascinating blend of cultures and traditions, which truly are the musical crossroads of the southern hemisphere.

=M=A=D=Y= - Go With The Flow

When the past fuses with the present, you’ll find us immersed in Barrio Lindo, flipping through his musical sketchbook of colourful landscapes from South America. 

Influenced by traditional music from Bolivia, Peru and Colombia, our Urban Cosmonaut Radio guide #25 creates music that somehow reminds the listener of the roots of contemporary music while still breaking the boundaries of genre, time and locality. His music is eclectic in the sense that it doesn’t fit any boxes, and at the same time instantly recognizable through his signature knocking percussions, colourful soundscapes and rhythmically erratic heartbeat phrases. 

Barrio Lindo’s taste in music was born in Colombia, in the sound of the rivers and the chants of marimbas and drums. When he’s not making music, he’s making instruments - and playing around with old techniques, mixing them with digital production, finding a balance between traditional and contemporary ways of expressing himself. After doing a Chancha Via Circuito workshop with Sidirum and Barda, he started producing music in 2012 and has evolved a lot since then. 

We’re grateful for the podcast we’re about to listen to, which includes fresh material from his collaborative project History of Colour with El Buho. Which wonders await us, we wonder. Let’s have a listen and find out, shall we?

There is this magic valley in central Hungary, near a tiny village, Ozora. It's surrounded by friendly hills and corn-fields. Every August tens of thousands of open-minded, warm-hearted people gather from all corners of the world. This is Ozora Festival, one of the biggest psychedelic gatherings in the world.

On 7th August 2012 Airtist played on the first night of the gathering without any intention of recording the concert, especially not thinking of releasing a live album. Just uniting energies with the audience in the present, perceiving the moment with every nerve.

Before the show a friend, Bohóc jacked his audio recorder in the outputs of the mixing console. The recording was loud, rough, a bit noisy and quite low-fi. But the energy came through. This recording grabbed the moment and keeps expanding it!

It had to be shown to the people as it gives back the atmosphere, the vibe of an Airtist concert. A very special concert as MC Fantom is also featuring it, so the ancient vibes meet vocalized messages and bring you the ultimate organic beats!
