Henry Hicks AKA Horatio Luna is a Melbourne based improviser, composer, bassist and producer.

A founding member of hip-hop/soul community "30/70 collective", he is an active member of the Australian beatz, jazz and soul music scene.

After parting with 30/70 in 2019, Horatio featured on the Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Records compilation ‘Sunnyside Up’, released a 12” ‘Print It, Run It, Send It’, Remixed Moodyman approved Jitwams music and focused his sights on working and collaborating with the younger generation of players in Melbourne, serving as the musical director on ‘downundaground’ and joining Antiphon among many other groups. 

'Yes Doctor' is the debut full-length LP from Horatio Luna due out Feb 14 on LP and digital.

"I have always played music that is a fusion of styles and as ‘Horatio Luna’, I always want there to be a connection to House music. I was exploring the parallels between every style i could think of and mixing it with house. I was pushing aesthetic boundaries, things i felt i hadn’t heard before, searching for new music, “Not box-able music”. 

'Yes doctor' is a coming of age record. I was pushing myself to the limit musically and challenging myself in every aspect of life. It's a collection of rare grooves that tell a story, each track plays out like a different scene in a movie.

Danish producer and pianist, Uffe makes his On The Corner debut, with "Free House", a killer slice of off-kilter dancefloor madness. Taken from the forthcoming 'Door the Cosmos - Dancefoor Sampler', an 8-track compilation of club-centric but very unpredictable bangers. 

Having built a healthy reputation for producing increasingly jazzed-up and gnarly house, across labels such as Tartelet, Pets, Delusions of Grandeur and Bluberry, Pete OtC finally tracked him down back home in Denmark and managed to prise this gem from him.

On the Corner Records was awarded ‘Label of the Year’ at the Worldwide Awards 2018. OtC is a story of artists and scenes that goes way beyond being a record label. DJ, label owner Pete On the Corner has created a home for innovative, border-crossing, genre-pushing artists. The OtC vision is to bring music to the world that is knocking at the ‘Door To The Cosmos’. The label is an inimitable mixture of Miles Davis ‘call it what you want’ attitude, Sun Ra’s Afro Futurism and the ecstatic soul lifting influence of black music on electronic dance music.   

On ‘Door To The Cosmos – Dancefloor Sampler’ Pete has curated a volume of cuts from present and future label family. This first in the series, is not just knocking at the door but giving it a kick! It’s club music referencing the source, be it Detroit, or UK bass culture combined with future sounds rising from cosmopolitan hotbeds of sonic heat. On this maxi EP Venezuela meets India via New York, the street sound of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania pulses through UK Jungle. Undergrounds pushing the dance, breaking borders and genre alike. Rhythms from the ancestors channelled for future times.

After the release of Motowns Jay Sound debut LP "Playlist To Paradise" dropped on the world, there has been much buzz around his name and the particular nostalgic, soulful & moody sound & world of his. Entering 2021 with not only his 1st EP of the year but also an 95% R&B body of work.

Much like "Playlist To Paradise", "Late Nite Feelings" plays off the zeitgeist of the 80s & 90s moody R&B vibes, focusing on a much heavier take on R&B from his childhood. "I grew up on 80's & 90's R&B, for me they stand alone due to the very rhythmic and sensual vibe they carry which i hardly hear in today's modern take on R&B. So i wanted to recapture that & pay homage to my childhood of music i still love to listen to on a daily that is truly timeless. For me the 80s & 90s represent timeless music, i never get tired of it."

"Late Nite Feelings" is filled with dreamy, lush & blissful FM EP chords & keys from the 80s/90s with hazy, warm tape organic cassette rhythms from the classic 808 along with Jays signature fat & warm bass lines accompanied by sensual silky vocal samples. Pulling inspirations from timeless Black R&B artists like Loose Ends, Angela Winbush, Chaka Khan, Stanely Clarke & many more.

Adding a bit of texture within this 7 track EP, Jay creates a House remix take on "Late Nite Feelings" the opener of the EP. Something just for the club and dance floor that can break up that slow sensual pace just for a moment before we go right back into the thick of it again.

This EP is surely a blast from the past, a timeless sound we 80s & 90s babies truly can relate to and all have come to know very well. A perfect time around Valentines Day, put this on and let the rest...flow and embrace your Late...Nite...Feelings.
