2013 marks a decade of Y-3 and its pioneering sport-style aesthetic—a look that continues to meld the avant-garde genius of Yohji Yamamoto with the breakthrough innovation of adidas. adidas is pleased to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Y-3 with a compilation album in collaboration with Alex Prat aka Alex from Tokyo (Tokyo Black Star, World Famous NYC) and 14 innovative electronic music producers, with CD and vinyl sets specially packaged with artwork by PL Studio.

Y-3 presaged the contemporary obsession with designer athletic wear by being the first to blur the boundaries of style and sport. The music on this compilation achieves a similar balance, bringing together dance music icons as well as fresh faces from the world of underground house and disco.

The esteemed contributors include Frank Wiedemann, one half of acclaimed duo Âme and co-founder of Berlin-based label Innervisions. Eccentric and reclusive maven Maurice Fulton makes a rare appearance, along with legendarily diverse New York DJ Joaquin "Joe" Claussell of the famed Body & Soul parties as well as Chicago house pioneer Larry Heard. Rub-N-Tug are a boisterous New York duo, and here they slot next to Jules Etienne's collaboration with disco purist Daniel Wang, founder of Balihu Records
Other artists on the compilation include Blackjoy, responsible for Parisian sci-fi disco, prolific Japanese producer Kaoru Inoue aka Chari Chari, Irish house heavyweight Mano Le tough, and Jiro Amimoto, who has produced the music at previous Y-3 runway shows. Discodromo, who heads up one of Berlin's top gay alternative parties Cocktail D'Amore, collaborates here with Italian Massimiliano Pagliara, a longtime resident at Frankfurt's Robert Johnson nightclub. Alex from Tokyo pulls double-duty, contributing a track from his and Isao Kumano's Tokyo Black Star project as well as mixing the CD version of the release. Rounding out the mix is anonymous Scottish producer Lord of the Isles and Quiet Village, featuring Matt "Radio Slave" Edwards.

The Y-3 compilation will be released in mid-September via the Y-3 website, retail stores, and social media outlets. The compilation will be available on CD with the tracks both mixed continuously or unmixed, along with 500 special-edition vinyl box sets and free digital downloads.

Matt Walsh’s Clouded Vision Recordings presents their biggest EP to date with two peak time tracks from one of the figureheads of the French electronic scene. Backed with remixes from the label owner himself alongside Get Physical regular and head of Lithuania’s “Best Kept Secret”, Vidis.

Remote’s first release partnering Jennifer Cardini in 2005 as “Jenny Goes Dirty” warmly welcomed them to France’s label of the moment, “Kill The Dj”. The EP included a cover of the classic ‘Amoureux Solitaire’ and was picked up by the cream of the electro & techno crop including Tiga, James Holden, Tiefschwarz, Chloe & Ivan Smagghe. The duo have since recorded on an array of French imprints including Meant, Fondation, Tigersushi and Gesaffelstein’s “Zone”.

The A-side, Alcyone, is highlighted by an infectious synth hook blended with a powerful bass-line to create the most unique and stand-out record Clouded Vision Recordings have released.  The second track, “Talk” is more of a jacking house affair, yet still full of John Carpenter infused melodies that build throughout it’s 9 minute existence.

With Matt’s most recent original material released on Kill The DJ, a remix from the label owner paved way for a perfect fit.  He lowers the tempo and adds a rolling 303 acid line to craft a late night groove, perfect for the more discerning floors.  Fresh from releases on “Get Physical” with production partner Mario Basanov, Vidis opts for a homage to French new wave by giving “Talk” an abundance of funk and sex appeal.

The latest house duo to emerge from the Parisian underground bid us bonjour with this stellar debut on Dialect, fusing retroist 80s leanings with brain mulching techno voodoo. Title track ‘Scandale’ and ‘Lame De Fond’ share the same pulsing sequenced heart, transplanted from Carpenter soundtracks and Italo disco classics and then zapped with a thousand volts of warped, detuned and malfunctioning synthesizer electricity. ‘El Topo’ replaces the bristling sequences with a spiky post punk snarl courtesy of live guitars, bass and organ (a la Suicide no less) but retains the twisted electronics for a woozy half time experiment in dancefloor psychedelia. Essential for fans of Joakim, Ivan Smagghe and early Gesaffelstein productions.

2014 is the 10th anniversary of the San Francisco based producers 40 Thieves releasing their first EP and now they come through with their debut album 'The Sky Is Yours' for Leng Records.

Core members Layne Fox, Corey Black & Jay Williams call on their bevy of friends to contribute to the group's diverse sonic make up. Travis 'TK' Kirschbaum was a co-founder and key contributor and local best buds Qzen, Alona, Rita Mazlan, Jason 'JP Soul' Peters, Chris MacGrew, Masahiko Kiritani, Dave Dick, Victor Critchfield, Colin Klingman, Dave Kurzman and Larry Hamilton have all played various roles in past and current productions.

Over the years 40 Thieves have connected with likeminded labels including Rong Music and Permanent Vacation to release a small handful of original singles and EP's. One in particular, 2008′s "Don't Turn It Off," caused such a commotion it wound up on a few dozen CD compilations and was voted Best of the Decade by Beatport in 2010. Over the next few years the Thieves had the chance to remix great artists including Kid Creole and the Coconuts, Gary 'Chocolate Star' Davis, Plastique De Reve, and Johnny Dynell.

Whether they're creating cosmic odyssey soundscapes or lazy mutant house, 40 Thieves like to interweave live instrumentation with programmed electronics, their sound would be equally at home at the Mudd Club circa 1983 or in the headphones of an Ibiza beachgoer circa 2083. Whether slack or upbeat, 40 Thieves always aim for the head as well as the floor.

After celebrating the 20th catalogue number with an extensive compilation, Uncanny Valley continues with serious business in the form of Break SL’s long awaited new EP. On “Atlantic Ocean Road” the Uncanny Valley regular returns in top form and with 4 tracks that come across like an acoustic showroom of everything that makes Break SL’s timeless House music so special.

The title track is a perfect example of his sophisticated drumming combined with catchy and dreamy synth work. As the name implies, “Atlantic Ocean Road” feels like the soundtrack to one’s favourite road trip memories. “FM 4 Life” gets alive with jazzy beats, clever sampling and driving yet muddled bass lines.

“Trocadéro” is based on a field recording which Break SL brought home from Paris. Here again, Break SL masterfully combines slightly melancholic vibes with funky rhythmic elements. The record is finished in style with one of those tunes that dancers won’t get out of their head even on their way home from the club. On “Malstrøm", cheerful synths play beautiful melodies over a dark and groovy bass and the jacking drumming is full of ideas that are subtle but essential.

The cover artwork comes courtesy of David Rost from Dresden. With his tape rendering concept he produced a visual analogy to Break SL’s music and the EP’s title. Stay tuned for a video that will document the creation process.

Raw nrg captured on the fly in Melbourne, these DIY productions reflect their dynamic equilibrium. Drunk At The Jazz Club lays down some lo-tech disco with submerged symphonic keys while Donald Duck invades the elevating Chicago melodies of Flying High. The other two cuts are the nasty shit - the squelching demented valentine One Question and Mustn't Evolve's pure evil extraterrestrial funk (shout outs to Dungeon Master Possee). Asked to describe his music to a new listener one might falter. While it's true that there is a very specific sound at the core of his music, it is the fluid nature of Deetron's work that defines him as an artist. Yet there is one word that can be used to sum up this dynamic musical mind and the polymorphic sounds that he has mastered - Maverick.

His second album "Music Over Matter", which was released on Music Man end of last year, finds Deetron in a unique, transitional phase. The vocal element of his music coming to the fore, with his 2nd album he proves that there is no substitute for substance and skill, putting music firmly back in the frame is the message, and how poignant to today's tumultuous industry.

For the new single 'Love Song', Deetron calls on the vocal talents of oddball techno superstar Seth Troxler. Steve Bug brings his Traffic Signs alias back to life for the remix, and adds an instrumental version too. Without a doubt an irresistible package for any DJ.
