Cathal O'Briain enjoys writing original contemporary ballads. He sings and plays fingerstyle acoustic guitar, drawing upon aspects of human nature, history, and current international events in his songs.

His album Self-Determination is a body of work from his collaboration with legendary Producer Peter Eades who has worked with some of Ireland’s top acts such as Clannad, The Chieftains, Thin Lizzy, The Dubliners, Moving Hearts and De Danann.

Jay Olivine is Ziggy Stardust’s fourth favourite lyricist in Northeast Brisbane. 

He is a hitless wonder who scratches out demos in a dark booth beneath his kitchen. 

Sometimes he adds distortion to cover the snores of his dog. Sometimes he gets away with an acoustic number. 

His dream (not his dog’s dream) would be to license his lyrics to someone who would take them somewhere beautiful. He keeps dreaming.

About societal political and emotional obstacles and speaking truly about it . Being an introvert with limited opportunities has created a depression aroma and been through alienation consistently so this music is basically a vent out of failure and desperation of being an outcast and unsuccessful in life because of my mental disorder and how it has been used against me .. I don’t know what to expect from all this but at least it’s something to be remembered after I’m dead even if never become a famous musician or celebrated artist . Also some live takes of covers

I have attended an audio school and worked several years at a concert hall named Olavshallen https://www.olavshallen.no/arrangere/store-sal I followed Khaliq Glover’s courses and webinars. I've been into sound engineering since 1991 and mixed over 1000's of songs. I have previously mixed for One Time Records and have released a vinyl with Koalra. I also have mixed "Where Do I Go" with Chris TR that was airtimed on the BBC radio

I use Universal Audio, fabfilter, soundtoys, autotune, melodyne, ozone and Plugin Alliance plugins and have a Uad apollo interface .

 I also use outboard gear like the RME Fireface, Universal Audio 2-1176 stereo compressor , An Avalon channelstrip, a space echo RE-201, a Drawmer 1968 mkii, and a Lexicon Pcm92. Also a dual ssl eq
