That spring evening, Hekske (the little witch) and Falke (the 10 year old witch apprentice) flew home after attending a witch coven in the black forest. As always, it had been an intense full moon night filled with mystic ceremonies and ecstatic dances. They were tired but happy when they touched down in the central glade of their home forest, where they received a warm welcome by Bob The Owl and many other forest dwellers.
The witches immediately went to the nymph’s pond where they took a refreshing dive in the clear (but ice-cold) water. This was exactly what they needed after such a long and intense day, and they enjoyed the view on the Japanese cherry tree in full bloom, which seemed to be glowing in the evening sun. After sunset, they saw the near-full moon rising gloriously above the Eastern horizon. The moon was really bright and clear that night, and they felt its divine power. A few minutes later, a small cloud obscured the moon and plunged the forest in darkness. Strangely, Falke noticed a faint light far away in the forest. This light disappeared when the moon started to shine again. But when the next cloud covered the moon, the same mysterious light reappeared in the woods.
The witches got intrigued, and decided to get out of the water. They unhurriedly dried their long hair and put on their immaculately white dresses, before venturing into the woods. The mysterious light had disappeared, but they intuitively sensed where they had to go. Strangely, the moonlight seemed to be showing the way. At one point, the moonlight suddenly became much stronger. The girls sensed that this must be the place. And yes, a few moments later they heard a faint ‘meow’ in the distance. And another meow… 
Then they saw it … a cute little kitten in a beam of moonlight. How on earth did this little cat end up here!? Anyway, Falke was already kissing and cuddling the beautiful little feline. The kitten was obviously still to small too be left alone in the forest, but the witches had a plan.
They brought the sweet little cat to entrance of the badger’s sett. After seeing the kitten, the guard immediately called the other badgers and soon all these ebullient animals were hugging and cuddling the little cat, who got instantly accepted by the whole clan of badgers.
The witches smilingly looked at this endearing spectacle and knew the little kitten would be safe in the badger’s sett. And it wouldn’t take long before they realized this was no ordinary cat …

BeYond with maaje | 35

"El Toisón de Oro" by Wolfgang Paalen (1937) a painting whispers a conversation between the subconscious and the visible world.

At first glance, the work feels like a dense, mysterious ritual, a dream where forms flicker between meaning and unmeaning. Paalen was not painting objects; he was painting states of existence — internal landscapes where logic dissolves and instinct speaks.

The title, El Toisón de Oro (The Golden Fleece), recalls the ancient myth of Jason and the Argonauts, where the golden fleece symbolizes ultimate achievement, heroic destiny, or spiritual enlightenment. But in Paalen's vision, the fleece is not a shining prize on a pedestal; it is buried, fragmented, perhaps even forgotten. In this inversion, the painting tells a different, more haunting story about the human mind: the quest for meaning is not linear — it is chaotic, painful, filled with illusions and half-seen truths.

The swirling organic textures, the way forms seem to melt into and out of each other, suggest a world where nothing is fully separate — an echo of the human psyche itself. Memories, desires, fears, myths: all overlap and clash within us. The brain does not neatly organize life; it collides it, blends it, shatters it into dreams.

In this sense, El Toisón de Oro becomes a mirror.
It asks:
— What is it that we are really seeking?
— Is it glory? Redemption? The truth about ourselves?
— Or are we simply chasing after symbols, golden illusions, stitched from our own hunger?

Paalen’s work whispers that the golden fleece we search for may not be out there in the world at all.
It might be the fragile, elusive understanding of who we are — a thing never fully grasped, always transforming.

eierschaukeln @ hive has been one of my absolute favorite events since i started dancing in clubs. this year, 10 years later, i was asked to dj on my favorite floor on my favorite day. <3 (monday daytime - if you know, you know hehe) 

lately it's become super rare for me to arrive behind the booth and feel confident and relaxed from the very first second. it's also super rare that i listen back to a recording after a gig and feel satisfied. this time it happened, i literally dived in & let it flow. and even though i, as always, briefly wondered whether i should upload it: HERE IT IS :D i loved the vibe on easter at hive, i loved the crowd, i loved the daylight at tanzstube, i loved the sound system and the team, so it's just lovelovelovelove for everyone and everything.

i'm still so happy and just wanted to share that with you :))

Sky Blue (1940) by Wassily Kandinsky was painted towards the end of Kandinsky's career. It appears as blue patch of what resembles sky, bordered by a slightly lighter blue tone representing clouds. a world that feels like a dream. The sky is a wide, open space filled with floating shapes and playful creatures. They drift peacefully, as if weightless, moving through the blue like thoughts floating in the mind.

Each figure is unique—some stretch out as if flying, while others curl up as if resting. Their bright colors and soft lines make them look like they belong to a story only the sky can tell. It’s as if each one has its own secret, yet they all fit together in perfect harmony.

The painting feels calm and free, like the world has paused just for a moment. It invites you to imagine what it would be like to float without worry, to explore the endless sky without limits. Kandinsky seems to paint not just what he sees, but what he feels—a place where dreams and colors come alive. it’s a window to a peaceful, endless world where imagination can fly.
