"People Would Say" was just a couple words, an idea, when I finished up last years album so consider it an "other song" for purposes of this release! A conversation with a friend about finding music so late in my life led to this song. I should have finished it sooner, it's a personal favorite!

"Ode To Charles" is a dedication to my good friends who lost their son-in-law a year ago. He left behind a young wife and daughter. I wrote this song within hours of talking to my friend and hearing the sad news. I never meant to release it as I felt it was just too personal. As one year approached I changed my my mind, hoped it would give my friends and family some comfort so it became an "other song" for this album.

Ode To Charles

"I Was Small" is an "alternate" version of a song I released in 2018 (When I was Small). I felt this song needed to be be much more stripped down than the version I originally released and this was the result. It was much more a recording exercise than anything else so it never made last years album.

"What Would Jesus Say" is a true "B Side". It was complete and ready to go during the making of my "For the Stars" album but just didn't make the cut. I think I felt I already had a couple of songs that I would call "about our current times" and just didn't want another. This song is about all the "bad behavior" of people in the world today and asks the question, would they act differently if they thought Jesus or someone important in their lives was watching them.

"Another Place, Another Time" is another true "B Side". It was complete and ready to go during the making of my "For the Stars" album but I felt it didn't fit in with the flavor of the other songs. It's a conversation between two friends, one a wanderer, getting ready to leave again.

Another Place, Another Time

"It's just a hobby!"

I bought my first guitar about 10 years ago, I was 56 years old. I had wanted to learn long ago and decided with my early retirement, now was a good time! I had no musical experience but with the help of many YouTube videos (mostly JustinGuitar.com), I started to learn. Along the way, I wrote my first original song and started videoing and recording my music, both originals (@lenaloise) and covers (@lenaloisecovers). My first song was posted about 5 years after that first guitar!

My music "hobby" has really grown since I started! Many guitars, pedals, gadgets, equipment! But it's a hobby! I work hard for every note and learning this instrument at an older age is different from starting in your teens! My page is a mix of things that I enjoy in my "hobby"! I record "almost live" with minimal takes and editing. I strive for fun, not perfection, and I learn as I need to for that enjoyment!
