Guitar Player at the Campfire

Keeping with the Valentine's Day theme of love, here's an oldie but goldie I wrote this back in 1998, can you believe it, It's another song about my dream girl that I wouldn't meet for many year afterwards. I was divorced for about 2 years and pretty much feeling abandoned and lonely. I remember wanting to write a song in the same vein as "And I Love Her" by The Beatles. A very acoustic number with an accordion playing in the background, you know, very romantic like something you might hear in a Paris cafe! This was one of the first songs I did with Charlie, it wasn't recorded too well since I had an old Tascam 8-track analog recorder and it's distorted quite a bit but I think the melody and lyrics still hold up. (Mastering didn't help this song at all, sorry!) I don't know, let me know what you think in the comments. I've always liked the first line about wrapping myself inside her smile. I produced the video a few months ago for this Valentine's Day. I enjoyed putting it together and added like 10 quick snap shots of beautiful women taking selfies at the end of the video. Can’t thank him enough for his efforts,  skills & enthusiasm for the ideas. A double busy top bloke.
This song is about a personal experience a long time ago that still to this day can hurt when mentioned.
Then 20 years after the dust as settled the opportunity arises out of the blue to cut to the chase and talk truth & transparency about the situation.
Always two sides to a story and their version strangely favours the brave but they take no responsible for their actions and the feelings of others after they shit on you from a great height after you have been always helpful & decent to them. 
You may still love these people and forgive them but you never forget.
So it’s about people who are close to you wether it’s family or friends. 
We have probably all been there and feel betrayed but because of who they are you rise above to be a better person. 
They don’t change with time just turn inside out.
They will still be out for number one and would sell their Granny for personal gain .
To be deceitful, lie and play you like a fiddle leaving you in the dark.
This Sound Society gives you the second track of 2025.

I have enjoyed music for as long as I can remember and cannot remember a day of not either singing or listening to music. I am self-taught when it comes to playing guitar but what I most enjoy is singing which I have been doing since around age 18. Now retired singing and playing the guitar is now just a hobby and something I do to help pass the time. Have always  loved the sound of a Martin guitar.
