Within the rustic indie folk spaces in the Philippines, Austri has carved himself an identity as a folk artist dabbling in thrilling soundscapes such as ambient and post-rock. Carrying the influences of Sufjan Stevens, Ichiko Aoba, and Florist, acts that utilized the hushed environment to their advantage that only a folk musician could. In the tantalizing isolation back in 2020, Austri capitalized on that specific moment to compose music as a way to cope from that darkness and rely on the warmth that music has always brought to him. Reflecting his lingering thoughts and raw emotions that collectively settle within his melodies and lyricism.

Fast forward in 2024, and Austri has finally put together his debut EP, ‘The place where birds meet’. A project that was worked on for over 3 years, the overall concept was inspired by his research on the migration of birds that eventually reflects on the ups-and-downs of his life. It’s a reflection that is heard within the music itself. Full of warm acoustics with post-rock pathways, solemn vocal lilts, curious ambient patchworks, and lyrical pastures that always look towards hope amidst grief. An optimism that will act as his stronghold against the unexpected wraths of life.

Best described by the title of the EP itself, this is just the starting point of a long wandering journey ahead for Austri. With his eye for finding the beauty within the smallest moments in our lives, he ensures to encapture them with nothing but his soft vocals, detailed songwriting, soothing ambiance, and unspooling melodies. Like the birds that continue to venture through the skies, Austri’s penchant for unraveling beauty within mundanity is a quality that will flap away his wings, seeking the light that lies within this worldly horizon.

Formed in February 2011, the members of Anton and the Salvadors all come from bands of different genres (Progressive Metal, Post-Hardcore, Jazz, and Alternative Rock) but came together through their common interest in the stripped down yet emotionally intricate sound of Post-Rock to form this band. Their sound focuses on unencumbered instrumentation and a very collaborative approach to song writing to draw out the immediate emotion people feel when listening to music.
