"DANCETRAX I" is the first installment in the DANCETRAX series by Belgrade-based producer & DJ: Neutron. Building upon the spirit of his club sound Neutron dives even deeper into big arena sound with this EP.

The progressive and deep aspects of his music blend with darker techno, culminating in a 4-track exploration of evolving sonic layers. Neutron continues to delve into the infinite potential of 909 and 303, drawing inspiration from the 90s.

This limited yet evocative electronic setup seamlessly intertwines the artist's vision with each session. The result is a rich tapestry of rhythms and textures, with "DANCETRAX I" immersing listeners in an even deeper exploration of Neutron's creative journey and genre-bending prowess.

If you think of the UK’s best techno’s most prolific techno labels, Soma Quality are right there at the top. For the last 25 years Slam’s imprint has put out consistently killer music from some of 4/4’s most leading edge producers, with the likes of Funk D’Void, The Black Dog, Surgeon and Schatrax all making frequent appearances across the imprint’s back catalogue. 

One of their more recent signings is Rebekah, the Birmingham-born producer who first cut her teeth DJing in the late 90s. After a busy touring schedule early on in her career she became a part of Chris Liebing’s CLR label, before Soma picked her up for an EP in 2015. Earlier on this year, they also put out her debut LP Fear Paralysis, an album spanning the breadth of contemporary techno.

Rebekah’s next drop on Soma will be an EP of remixes from Fear Paralysis, with the likes of Slam and JoeFarr reworking some of the album’s best cuts. With their return to Farringdon just around the corner this Saturday, Slam sent us over their hard-hitting remix of Rebekah’s Code Black to premiere ahead of their appearance.

UK techno giant Perc is gearing up to release a remix EP for his gargantuan cut 'Look What Your Love Has Done To Me' off his 2017 album 'Bitter Music'. In addition to creating his own VIP mix of the seven-minute dancefloor epic, Perc has tapped I Hate Models and Amelie Lens to reinterpreted what remains the biggest-selling track in the history of the artist's Perc Trax imprint.

Ahead of the three-track release on July 26, Mixmag has acquired the latter of the three remixes for a premiere. The Belgian techno phenomenon keeps the track's core drums intact while adding a deep and seductive melodic touch that gives the umbrous techno slammer a fresh spectral feel.

Paris-based DJ & producer AIROD aka Dario Brkic returns to Amelie Lens’ Lenske for his second 12” on the Belgian label, ‘Rave Cycle’. Previous solo EPs on Molekul, on his Elixyr and the acclaimed ‘Voltage’ EP on Lenske earlier this year have brought him to play at some of the most emblematic clubs of the international circuit and become part of the Exhale showcases. Belgium techno powerhouse Amelie Lens returns with her third release on her celebrated imprint LENSKE. Hot on the heels of an explosive mix CD on fabric last November, her four-hour Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1 in April (the longest one since 1997) as well as a hit lockdown livestream, she delivers a hard-hitting EP entitled ‘Higher’ featuring her usual propensity for dark sounds and haunting vocals. Due to the current circumstances, she has unfortunately had to put on hold a summer full of festival appearances at the likes of Timewarp, Awakenings, Primavera Sound, Junction 2, Kappa Future, Sonus, and an extended tour with her Exhale curated parties with her own stage at Tomorrowland and OFFSonar, to name a few. This EP showcases Lens’ sound and energy while we wait to dance together again.

On the A side we have the euphoric title track, in which melodic synthwork and familiar vocal inflections echo into the far reaches of a cosmic dance floor. Next is ‘L’Obscurite’, which shocks with an hypnotic pulse, combining an appetite for the mystifying with sonic bleeps and booms. On the B side features an emotive sub-bass rework of ‘Higher’ by Berlin’s techno boyband FJAAK, swindling a multi-layered rave version. For the hungry ravers, this will be a fiery treat for the ears.

Israeli producer Shlomi Aber makes his @secondstateaudio debut this summer with an assured package of nuanced, nimble techno, of the standard you’d expect from a chameleonic producer with over 17 years in the game.

“Orion” is a paranoia-laced stomper, with rattling beats and synths that dart around like eyeballs scanning the crowd for friends. Silky stabs lend the track a cinematic quality, almost mimicking a scene in a horror movie. “Nuclear” is just as evocative, layering a harmony of string stabs over teasing synthetic hi-hats and whipping FX. It’s complex and intelligent, but Shlomi makes it sound effortless. The Pan-Pot remix of “Orion” is stormier. The same rubbery, springy bassline is there but the track is trippier in character thanks to tribal drums and synths that pop like rayguns. Think “galactic circus” and you’re getting close. Buzzing insect sounds usher in “Brikz”, an atmospheric track designed to put you on edge, in a good way. At the track’s tensest point, the drums drop out altogether before returning in downtempo breaksy patterns. Definitely not your typical techno cut, but then nothing Aber does is typical.

Second State is thrilled to welcome this master producer into the family with a release that promises to expand minds while moving bodies.
