Tronic supremo Christian Smith and Brazil&#8217;s Wehbba have been busy creating a series of innovative single releases together that will be known as the &#8220;Passion Over Fashion - Trilogy&#8221;. In a perfect storm meeting of musical minds these two maestros have come together in the studio on a creative high after their recent, individual, critically acclaimed artist albums - &#8220;Omakase&#8221; and &#8220;Square Two&#8221;.Given that they have remixed a number of huge, high profile releases together in recent times - Funk D&#8217;Void&#8217;s classic &#8220;Diabla&#8221;; Laurent Garnier&#8217;s &#8220;Flashback&#8221; and Bushwacka&#8217;s &#8220;Westside&#8221; - it seems amazing that this is the first time that they have worked on a series of original tracks together!Has the wait been worth it? The Duss boys make their phobiq debut with &#8220;Splitted&#8221; and the title track stomps through the door with distorted effects, metallic chords, and a chrome-plated attitude. &#8220;Mistral&#8221; follows with its snappy groove and cavernous vibe -without being chaotic-, while an apocalyptic breakdown acts as a welcomed breather. Closing up, the &#8220;Duss On Acid&#8221; mix does just that, introducing warped synth action, squelches and a grinding rhythm section.

A great philosopher (Samuel Johnson, not Ebeneezer Goode) once wrote… “our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks”. While it would be a stretch to suggest the Drumcode artist roster are closet philosophy fans, once one begins to unravel the tale that led to Jel Ford remixing the 2012 Alan Fitzpatrick hit ‘For An Endless Night’ and it is impossible to escape the unexpected enterprise and spirit of surprise that are at the heart of this exciting collaboration. 

As fans of Adam Beyer’s label will testify, the two Drumcode names have more in common than just a label stable, they also share common ground with the peak-time melodic sound that has delivered many of the labels most memorable output. Ford being a much more recent addition than Fitzpatrick, whose history with the seminal Swedish imprint stretches back to 2009, however Ford’s history within techno goes back even further having released multiple EP’s through the early noughties on vintage UK techno labels including Dave Angel’s Rotation Records, Billy Nasty’s Tortured Records, Primate Recordings and Ford’s own Jericho imprint. 

It is within this shared passion for uplifting synths and big room melodies that the ‘unexpected spark’ of creativity that led to Ford remixing Fitzpatrick can be found. An long-time admirer of Fitzpatrick’s work, Ford had developed an idea for his alternative version and secretly worked on the remix long before any discussion of the project had taken place. Once given the draft version, Fitzpatrick immediately endorsed the remix, excited to have an updated version to breath new life into what had become a familiar staple of his sets for the past two years. Parts were swapped and the end result being the barnstorming end-of-night monster presented here. A track that will be familiar with many having been the subject of much social-media furor since it first surfaced back in Autumn 2014.

We can't think of anything better to kick start the day, than some completely fresh sounds entering our ears. That's why, when we heard our old friend, Deas, had a new EP on the way, we just had to be the first to have it.

Signed to KMS Records - the brainchild of Detroit luminary, Kevin Saunderson - the Pressure EP offers 3 tracks of stone cold techno, from the pulsating nightmare of the title-track, to the robotic funk of 'Goldfinger' and the driven 'Program Error'.

The Greek-born, Krakow-based producer has been turning a lot of heads over the past few years, with his own Secret Room Records, and work for Bush, Proton and Monique Musique (the latter of which we premiered here). Through his KMS debut, Deas solidifies his rightful place amongst the contemporary techno elite, and we have a feeling this is still only the beginning.

The YellowHeads make their phobiq debut with a whopping four tracks and get right to the point with the cavernous &#8220;Abbey&#8221; where melancholic chords lead the way and diva vocals are interspersed in great style. On &#8220;Give Me A Chance&#8221;, we are introduced to a modulated riff and streamlined synths in the background, while rocksteady drums provide the intense momentum. Then it&#8217;s time for some heads-down action with &#8220;Tyson&#8221;, which lets a stomping kick lead the way to a synth-led breakdown and features vocal snippets directly related to the title. Closing up, the boys hit hard with &#8220;Back To School&#8221;, a more dubbed-out affair with loopy sensibilities and big, old-school (pun intended) chords.

With Pan-Pot’s eagerly anticipated album, 'The Other’ on the horizon, it's only fitting that we begin early with a glimpse of what’s to come. 

'The Other One' is the first of two EPs from the duo's upcoming long player and with the two carefully selected tracks; 'Pina' and '808 Nirvana', it's exactly what you come to expect from the duo. 

'808 Nirvana' is a white knuckle ride laced with fast paced stabs, shakers and snares while meteoric rises carry you into deep space. 'Pina', aptly titled after the newborn addition to the family, is a bundle of energy. It constantly grows larger and more complex before finally unleashing a fierce, sonic blast that wouldn’t seem out of place on the soundtrack to a Hitchcock film. In perfect Pan-Pot fashion.

Pan-Pot - 808 Nirvana

Alan Fitzpatrick makes a triumphant return to the scene-leading imprint this August. The typically bombastic three-tracker of explosive, crowd-moving techno opens with ‘Love Siren’ packed with all the power and punch required to knock over festival crowds as it systematically builds and drops, this is one for the big open air stages. ‘U Said U’ is a massively hyped track that has been the subject of huge fan-demand since it first featured on Beyer’s Drumcode Radio in January. ‘Rumours’ wraps things up in slightly more understated but non-the-less effective fashion with its drawn out, tension building intro mushrooming into a crescendo of sleazy chords and sparking melodies.
