Aggressive saxophone, hard hitting punky drums and deep electronic bass make this musical response to a text message recieved from a friend who worked as a nurse during the first wave of covid.

A Message from Eileen

This is the first of eight tracks from a new project.

"There's a potential that's been building up.
Your toes are up against the line.
One more step and it's Go time.
One more step and change is inevitable.
The outcome may be unknown but change is certain.
Maybe it's an awkward conversation that needs to be had.
Or finally putting pen to paper to start materialising a Fringe Show.
Telling your friends you're giving up smoking.
Or playing the first note at a new busking pitch.
That one more action that takes us over the threshold. Into action and into the unknown.
It's both exhilarating and a touch scary.
You're the only one that can do it.
But now you have, change is inevitable.
The Threshold has been crossed."
That's the sentiment I wanted to capture in this track.

This is the sentiment I wanted to capture......

Pushing, always pushing.
Pushing past obstacles.
The things I put in my way.
The stuff life throws.
The comfy bed that I want to stay in.
That voice in my head.
The easy way out.
Just one more cup of tea.

What does pushing bring?
Pride in myself. 
Self belief.
It brings ideas into reality.

Pushing starts afresh every day.
I crossed a finish line yesterday.
But there’s a new line today.
Resistance demons regenerate.
Pushing is making peace with that.

Sometimes pushing is staying still.
Refusing to leave the desk.
Or just sitting with an emotion.
Ignoring the urge to distract myself from my feelings

It’s not fun everyday.
This is a marathon not a sprint
But when the pushing is done the smile is won.
