Born in 1978, Luciano is a DJ since 1993 and a producer since 1997. In the mid-90's, he was promoting Sense Club and Encuentros con la Technocultura in Santiago de Chile in the company of many initiators of the Latin American electronic music scene: Senor Coconut AKA Atom Heart, Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack and brother Adrian Schopf, Washington Miranda, Argenix Brito, Microman etc.

He's played radio stations and DJed clubs and events in Santiago and Latin America, Germany, Spain and Holland, settling in Switzerland in 2000 to release on Mental Groove Records in Geneva, where he also holds a residency at the Weetamix club. His releases appear on the Transmat, Perlon, Lo-Fi Stereo, Bruchstuecke and Klang Elektronik record labels.

Luciano's mixed Swiss and Chilean identity shows in his music, a somewhat mystical blend of deep techno and electro that integrates southern elements in rhythms and colorful patterns in sound. His collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos (Playhouse, Perlon, Warp, Force Inc etc.) as Sense Club are especially rewarding, as is his partnership with Pier Bucci and Argenix Brito as Monne Automne.

Mellowing his style as times goes by, getting more experimental and spacey with a fresh style of his own, Luciano’s production is destined to the wiser dancefloors that have enjoyed his live sets in Peru, Chile, Argentina, the U.S., Spain, Germany and Switzerland. DJ-wise, Luciano’s trade relies on groovy and minimal.

'Rise Of Angel' is the brand new single from Luciano, and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, due in 2013.  However, for the many thousands of dedicated music fans who have made the pilgrimage to Luciano's hugely successful parties this Summer in Ibiza (the weekly Ushuaia sessions and Vagabundos at Pacha), or the many Cadenza parties around Europe and North America, 'Rise Of Angel' has already become the signature tune and musical hi-light in Luciano's sets, making its release a highly anticipated moment for the Cadenza faithful.

Clocking in at over 15 minutes, 'Rise Of Angel' is an epic slice of modern electronic dance music, the simply Balearic, synth and piano driven hook gently builds and teases with cinematic intent, the light percussion and organic beats working the old Luciano magic, it's no wonder that 'Rise Of Angel' has become one of the most talked about tracks of the Ibiza season this year.

For the remixes, Luciano has kept it in the family, enlisting the duties of fellow Cadenza artists Mirko Loko, UNER and Andrea Oliva to all lend their unique production styles to a solid set of reinterpretations.  The vinyl 12" is coupled with Mirko Loko's pulsating robotic workout, adding a more beats driven take on Luciano's original, and delving into the bass for a heavyweight techno flecked remix.

And bolstering the digital package, UNER weighs in with a dubbed out, rolling drum version, using the vocal FX to support the groove whilst the pianos ride over the mix, and Andrea Oliva goes straight for the 4/4 jugular with a remix that builds solid tribal beats to a crescendo, adding a new dimension to the Original with a choice vocal section.

'Rise Of Angel' will be Luciano's first release on his own Cadenza label since 2010's Lucien-N-Luciano's 'Cuidad De Luz' EP, and marks the start of another big chapter in his career, having spent the last couple of years building a passionate audience through hundreds of DJ performances around the world, the Vagabundos events and collaborating musically with artists such as Pharrrell (Neptunes) and Lenny Kravitz.  His forthcoming album will be his second full length collection (following 2009's ‘Tribute To The Sun’), and his label, Cadenza Records, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, so the future certainly looks bright for the Chilean producer and DJ.

Many of the worlds best DJ’s are the artists who fall in love with electronic music at an early age and the truly great ones are the ones who maintain that same level of teenage infatuation with the scene throughout their lives. So with that in mind we’re delighted to welcome Andrea Oliva to present this weeks guest podcast mix as his passion for the music is undeniable. Since teaching himself how to mix aged 13 after being inspired by the older kids at his youth club Andrea quickly established himself as one to watch and by the time he was 17 he had secured bookings at all of his native Switzerland's top clubs; before becoming resident DJ at three of them - Terminus, Pravda, and Pacha Zurich.

From here on out it was onwards and upwards for Andreas, hosting parties across Switzerland and before long his reputation for putting on brilliant club nights had soon spread across the continent, all the way to Ibiza, where Andrea was invited to play regularly at Space for their club night In Bed With Space. Productions followed next, with Andrea  releasing tracks with some of the scenes coolest labels from Viva Music to Saved Records, Be As One and Cadenza Lab.

Now a fully fledged member of Luciano’s Cadenza crew we think this exclusive mix he delivered from the Ushusia opening party was one of the highlights of our time spent on the White Isle for the start of the summer and has certainly got us looking forward to catching him at Vertigo Festival soon! Growing up in the South Bronx, Les Carbonell was influenced by many things in the neighborhood. But, music was the most prominent force during his formative years. It was a constant background noise, synonymous with the sounds of the city: buses whirling by, cars beeping, children playing, and music seeping through open windows. At any given moment, a mix of Hip Hop and Afro-Latino beats pulsed through the air, like the neighborhood’s inexorable heartbeat. And it was this heartbeat, this fusion of musical variances that eventually became the inspiration for Les’ signature style today. His blends include a mixture of deep soulful beats, melodious vocals, and quality Techno.

Beyond the influence of his neighborhood, other great inspirations came in the form of people. World-class DJs like Little Louie Vega, Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Hex Hector, Danny Buddah Morales, Oscar G, and Victor Calderone, to name a few. And, of course, one of the most robust motivations, the apex of his inspiration…is his family. Les' wife and children continue to be constant muses. "I play for her, she has shown me what true love is, and as long as I can reach people through music, I know I've succeeded."

Driven by passion and a fervent desire to constantly grow as an artist, Les continues to build his musical prowess, taking his audience on euphonious journeys whenever he performs. His latest endeavor are his own Merge parties, where he strives to bring together elements of music, people, and passions. He says, “I must say first & foremost, MUSIC has been an immeasurable influence in my life, as a child to the present. It's permeated every aspect of who I am today, says Les. "It has taught me to express myself in ways I never thought possible. Live, Love, Laugh, Learn & make sure you have one hell of a soundtrack as you go!"
