TR193 - Alya Al-Sultani & Mariam Rezaei - 'SISTER' [excerpt]

Après avoir fait ses armes chez SeekSickSound, aussi bien à la Station qu'à l'Alimentation Générale, Fluid Matter s'installe aux Pays-Bas où il se mêle à la scène locale et entre dans une phase de production. En mai 2021, il lance avec Solma et Natural Limit son label Virtual Forest Records, réservoir de pépites entre electro, trance, bass music et deep techno, et y fait participer tout le talent hybride insoupçonné de l'hexagone. Après un premier EP sur le label anglais Simply Deep il sort en mars dernier son deuxième EP solo sur Virtual Forest. Face à un dancefloor, Fluid Matter dégaine ses plus belles trouvailles pendant des mixes frénétiques qui se promènent d'un style à l'autre sans distinction, avec un seul mot d'ordre : la danse.

Late night atmospheric soundtracks for two short movies. 'Aea' is an acoustic improvisation with tons of illustrious instruments and contributions on shamisen and shakuhachi by Lydia Schneider and slide guitar by Mohonbeena Soumalaya Mukherjee. 'Antroposcene' is a meditation of floating electronics on our disastrous pollution of the world. Mike Hovancsek is a former member of Pointless Orchestra and collaborated with Egyptian composer Halim El-Dabh (who composed some of the earliest tape music in 1944). 70 copies.

This Is An Obscure Session: New Wave, Blues, Avantgarde...

On her first solo lp, Roxane Métayer fully explores the sonic possibilities of the violin, field recordings and folk oriented orchestration and melodies. The violin is often taken the melodic lead, but at the same time serves a drone background, but just as much a percussion instrument. In any case: the focus is definately on the sound itself. She’s not afraid to use effects, minimal percussion, whistles and the occasional hushed vocal to expand the sonic palette to a maximum effect, resulting in multilayered, semi-improvised meanderings, gently evolving around a tight core.
