Aléx Ho Mégas is the new House moniker of Colorado-based producer fckdsko. So far it’s received positive reviews from John Digweed, Solomun, Roger Sanchez, Ame, M.A.N.D.Y, Agoria, and Paul Oakenfold, among many others.

His first release is "Maenad," which translates directly into "the raving ones" from Ancient Greek. 

The Maenads are the mythological female followers of Dionysus who belong to the Thiasus, the roaming rave that ushered him to his destinations, bringing festivity, madness and ecstasy wherever they went. 

The single is a tribute to this spirit; one of freedom and pleasure seeking - something that was missed while it was being composed during the dark corona winter. 

Funky, jittery acid basslines and bellowing kicks accent the low end on this track, as Latin-house breaks drive the track. 

Ivy-cool drones, and lush, saturated pads inspired by the retro, analog sounds of the Jupiter 8, and CS-80, crescendo and uplift, while the funk of synth stabs and a worldly rhythm section evoke dancefloor frenzy, just like in the mythological Thiasus' that raved wherever Dionysus would proceed. 

Foley sounds, fleeting textures, and the crackles of vinyl distortion texture the track, making listening equally as rewarding on headphones.

Joint4Nine presents his debut release for Back Door Records this March. Filled with deep cuts and old-school grooves, this is a floor filler with plenty of heft.

Straight outta Bogota, Colombia, he brings the heat with an EP dripping in funk, vocal snippets that resonate deep within, and a groove so raw, you'll feel it in your bones.

Joint4nine is Bogota's finest, a beat-making maestro who's all about groove. As a co-founder of Nomada Records, he's been setting Colombia's house music scene on fire, and "That Good Of Love" is just a taste. Dropping just in time for this spring, this three-track EP is not to be missed.

Parisian imprint Ekleroshock is an independent label and publisher that in its time, has sold almost a million records.  Founded in 2002, it has been active for over two decades in the innovative electronic pop world.
 
Here the label brings us ‘En Silence Remixes’ by Antonin. Named after his grandmother’s boat, he is a global wanderer both in France and beyond, a sun-drenched character of the open roads who grew up on the picturesque Cap Ferret. On first appearance his silhouette and free as a bird spirit might have think he was a model or a surfer.  And you wouldn’t be too far from the truth as his chosen mode of travel is a surfboard. Aside from his board, Antonin’s only masters are time, the ocean, and the strings of his acoustic guitar.  
 
His debut album ‘En Silence’ was an ode to the sea and to stillness. The pop refrains, catchy ballads, and island-infused saudades created a captivating charm that guided this bard on a summer tour across the roads of France in a van, where he opened for both the Oracle Sisters and Kings Of Convenience, as well as joining the European tour of Allah-Las.
 
On this remix EP, Antonin invites friends Polo & Pan, Yuksek, Kraak & Smaak, Omri Smadar, Lazy Flow, and Dorion to work their magic on three of the album cuts. French iconoclasts, Polo & Pan, bring the tropical heat to the heartfelt ‘Je Veux Mourir Avec Toi’ (I want to die with you). Sonic dynamo Yuksek electrifies with his unmistakable nu disco touch on ‘Antonin’, while Omri Smadar (Correspondent) adds luscious pads, thrilling live drums, and works the 303 a treat on his version. La Créole resident, Lazy Flow,takes us to a Caribbean dream island, while Dutch trio Kraak & Smaak bring bags of their distinctive boogie flavour to the title cut. Closing out in a more subtle mode is Dorion who persuades us to follow him to the seaside with his sandcastles and warm summer sunshine affair.

PREMIERE : Antonin - Antonino (Lazy Flow Remix)

Released in 1989, 'Once Bitten' is the lone single from Kim Yaffa, an LA singer once signed to the Hollywood indie label Macola Record Co. Not long after recording this single, Yaffa shelved her music career and moved on to other aspects of the business, but she has become a cult figure amongst those who knew her work. 'Once Bitten' has only ever been available on 7" before now and is an effortlessly classy pop tune with hints of 80s blue-eyed soul and Sade-inspired sounds that lend it a timeless Balearic feel. Copies of the original 7” have been changing hands for as much as $2,000 online in recent years. Hence, this is a genuine bit of musical treasure. Says Kim about the release, "In the Late 80s Los Angeles had so much going on musically. After singing on a couple of records on Macola Records and backgrounds for other artists, I was searching for my sound, trying to find my footing as a songwriter and performer. I connected with a producer who seemed to get what I was going for and we hired Richard Elliot from Tower of Power at the time for that sexy horn sound, and we recorded Once Bitten and Lights of LA at Larrabee Sound. I think I was really into what Sade and Taylor Dayne were doing at the time, that jazzy vibe! We pressed the songs to a 45 and soon after were kind of forgotten about." Remixer Michael David is a member of the influential Los Angeles-based group Classixx, has released music on Cascine Records and worked with Holy Ghost!, Meyer Hawthorne, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. His version adds oodles of echo and reverb, slows things down and makes it a more trippy affair with languid lead guitars that bring a seductive and sleazy feel. London-based production duo and Record Mission label founders Nick the Record and Dan Tyler have vast DJ experience between them. Nick runs the Tangent party with John Gomez, and Dan Tyler is one-half of the legendary Idjut Boys. Their remix is perfectly sunny, primed and ready for open-air dancing with its exquisite flutes. The soulful original vocal is left to roll and will ensure this one becomes a real Balearic anthem. 'Lights of LA' is a second original from Yaffa that oozes low-key 80s charm. It has steamy sax and vocals and lush acoustic guitars, all irresistibly tingling the senses. 

New Islands will focus on the forgotten cross-genre and cross-cultural music of the 80s, 90s, and 00s, connecting them with the future. This first project is a superb one to get it underway.

Vicious Charm is the Brighton-based independent label setup by Damian Harris, formerly of Skint Records, to champion exciting artists and sounds that move him, with an artist roster that includes the brilliant JIM, E.R. Thorpe, Crooked Man, A Mountain Of One, and now A.B. HABIBI.
 
A.B. HABIBI is the artist name of Edinburgh-based Aymen Bensaad. A passionate music maker, Aymen has grown up in Leith, honing his sound and sharing formative experiences alongside a wave of talented artists he is proud to call friends and collaborators. He shares a studio (The Dungeon) and more with close comrades Young Fathers and Callum Easter, and his sound is naturally reflective of the environment, instruments, and sessions they all share. Born to Tunisian parents, Aymen spent summer holidays with his father in Jendouba soaking in the Tunisian spirit, culture and heritage that is woven through his music, combining with everything he knows and is surrounded by in Edinburgh – his home – to forge raw and purposeful songs.
