A collective of musicians devoted to walking the blurred lines that divide disco, funk, boogie and house, Kokoro Disco San first appeared on the RNT radar with their 2019 “Isla Fantasia” release on Rocafort Records. KDS now brings their uncanny ability to capture the mood and instrumentation of classic disco and soul with the uplifting summer anthem “Sunshine” and the Candido-esque sonic journey “Jungle Deep.” Rounding out the EP are two remixes of the title track by label co-head JKriv, who delivers an extended acidic exploration with his Beach Burn Mix, and a bumped up yet loving treatment of the original song with his SPF76 Mix.

Oli Stewart is Casbah 73. American-born, Madrid-based DJ, producer, vinyl collector and selector extraordinaire with several decades of experience under his belt.

Classic soul, funk and disco at its finest, with releases on mainstay outlets such as Glitterbox and Lovemonk, we’re extremely proud to have him in the Boogie Angst record bins.

Let’s Invade the Amazon is a highly grooved piece of live musical wizardry, with vocal performances to match. Beautifully extended and ongoing, the steady backbone interplay with funky electric pianos, with the occasional synth riff popping up for a breath of fresh air. And in the words of Casbah himself: “Quite possibly - no, definitely, the only soul-disco track ever to be inspired by Michael Mann's book “The New Climate War”, The Clash, Sun Ra... and Dr Seuss”. 

Next we find Pale Splash of Blue; some top shelf live Moog-, Rhodes- and Hammond featuring jazz funk. Punchy organs stab away alongside Casbah 73’s signature electric piano sprinkles, bouncing around his unique rhythmic groove. All resulting in a driving pace and attractive up-tempo moment; more than worthy of that evening beach club get-together.

On the flip-side we first find Osunlade, the highly revered, African American musician, producer, DJ and label boss at the edges of electronic and house music; whilst always staying firmly rooted in jazz and soul.  Since the start of his career in the early 1990s, Osunlade has been steadily releasing critically acclaimed singles and albums on high profile labels such as Soul Jazz, BBE, Strictly Rhythm, and of course his own label, Yoruba Soul. Furthermore, he also has a wide and varied remix track record, with reworks for the likes of Nightmares On Wax, Roy Ayers, St. Germain, 4 Hero, United Future Organization, Salif Keita and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Hence the link to ask Osunlade for his vision on 'Amazon' was very logical, and is turning out to be a bonafide classic.

Finally, JKriv, the Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and label owner. with releases and remixes on labels such as Soundway Records, Glitterbox or his own respected record label, Razor-N-Tape. re-imagines 'Amazon' into a classy and exotic nu-disco scorcher. What else would you expect from the man who worked with the likes of Dimitri From Paris, Horse Meat Disco, and of course on his own nu-disco band Escort.

As Frankie sang, 'and now, the end is near', which is certainly the case for our long standing Trash The Wax compilation series.

Over the years, it has released some absolute dance floor smashers by established names in the art of bangers as well as emerging music makers showcasing their fresh sounds.

Initially, we wanted to establish Trash The Wax outside of the 'kick-hat-snare stuck over a Sister Sledge sample' style edits that were dropping weekly. The result was a collection of cuts aimed at the dance floor which would also appeal to fans of electronic music. But all things come to an end, and with this 10th release, we are finishing on a high.

As expected there are disco ticklers aplenty from renowned party people such as Late Nite Tuff Guy, Ed Wizard, Bill Brewster, Pablo & Shoey, Danny Russell & Ronald Christoph and Yam Who.

Tracks such as Leon Sweet's Sunny Bigler made their way into the record boxes of the likes of Luke Unabomber, Maurice Fulton and Chris Duckenfield as well as the airwaves of 6Music. Deckard's rework of the theme from 'The Warriors' created scenes at ALFOS in Glasgow with Sean Johnston saying 'I've never seen as many shirtless middle age blokes go as mental as they did when that dropped!'

On a more twisted gutter style disco tip, there is Richard Seaborne's ' Is This Acid?' which topped the Paper best ever sellers on Beatport for months, Richard Norris's 'Glow' is textbook space disco, the low slung sludge of James Rod & Aleito's 'Raum 909' and the Speak & Spell narrated Acidisco by Andy Buchan.

There are also two brand new cuts from TTW family members Boblebad & D.S.D. plus more killer music than we can shake a disco stick at. Never has the phrase 'all hitters and no shitters' been more apt.
