Off the back of their first EP release, Super Fun Bumper Edition’s ‘Trends’, which received support from the likes of XL8R, Thump, Future Classic and Bradley Zero, https://soundcloud.com/beatsofnonationradio is now gearing up for its second release by the "Chord Memory Band".
Chord Memory Band is a recent collaboration between Michael Medlycott (from the band Vulture Street Tape Gang) and Dom Bird (BONN co-founder and member of the live disco 4 piece Mitzi).
At the end of 2016, Michael and Dom caught wind of a cave, nestled beneath a sacred mountain, deep in the Australian outback. The rumours described a cave filled with nocturnal animals and ancient flora, but more importantly, a stash of vintage synthesizers and drum machines. Guided by whispers and caught up in the mystic mystery of it all, the duo set off with a dusty four-track tape recorder in an attempt to capture these mythical cave vibes and place them on a record. Michael and Dom surfaced several months later, with four recordings and no memory of what had occurred. These recordings became their synergistic ‘Third Eye’ EP – an analogue journey into the spiritual world, with one simple message, “the answer is inside”

Following the ‘Decade EP’ from Jack Dixon &amp; Robin Card, as well as productions by Eliphino [Hoya:hoya], Ramadanman [Hessle Audio], and Locked Groove [Hotflush], TAKE’s first release of 2012 comes courtesy of newcomers colo.

‘Picture of You’ opens with a wave of dense, sustained synth, before giving way to a languid groove and an uncertain vocal refrain. ‘Rick’ sees clacking woodblocks paired with tape-driven 808 bass drums and delicate chords, while ‘Never Again’ provides the most overtly dance- driven of the original tracks, crafting a twinkling, considered euphoria from blurry Juno chords and half-legible original vocals. Finally, ‘Church’ stretches a cascading riff over a slow-motion 4/ 4 and thick square bass, all steeped in reverb recorded live at the guys’ local... you guessed it.

Coming on like a brainchild to Dam Funk & Mutant Beat Dance, Ghost's sound falls off the shelf between a number of distinct reference points: Lone's early tropical synaesthetics; the modern funk of Funkosphere; the intimate tapes out of PPU. In a sea of Soundcloud copycats, he's a revelation.
Endless Light is a record with an open hand: an instantly appealing sound from a new producer with a highly-tuned ear. Born of his collection of antique synths & drum machines, the Space Ghost experience channels a deep heritage of 1980s funk minimalism & analogue boogie. Velvet pads, hood-rat sleaze & heaped spoonfuls of soul.    
				                                              											             Never overly reverential or nostalgic, the record looks forward to a strange, bright future. Its sweeping sci-fi synths & twinkling sound design recall Lone or Dorian Concept's first outings into cosmic psychedelia. "Cosmic Cave" packs enormous ambient vistas into a bejewelled miniature. Frosty interlude "After Hours While It Rains Outside" touch the same cold nerve as Vangelis on Blade Runner. The gently vocoded love jam "Strong Heart" could've even fallen out of the Stranger Things playbook.
And there's heat for the club too. Nearly all the low swung beaterludes pick up into skippy house sketches & loping dancefloor cuts. Rather than squeeze into club music's often taut wireframes, tracks like "Colour Waves" & "Following A Vision" dance effortlessly between time signatures. Cruising gems "Endless Light" & "Aquatic Speedway" even go full hilt into the lush domain of vintage Burrell Brothers productions.
Throughout, Space Ghost stands out from the mounds of music today defined by lo-fi aesthetics. These are twelve enchanting cuts from a producer who has barely pulled back the curtain on his prowess. Supreme tip for 2018.
