Pete Oak's budding Blindfold Recordings continues to seize our attention, lining up record after record riddled with engrossing electronic music. Making waves on the imprint this month is D'Phault, who appears on the label for two original cuts. Joining us on the EP is Von Ekko with two productions of his own on the release. Johannesburg producer D'Phault contributes 'Inside', it's a rolling synth-laden beast witha vibrant atmosphere.  It's a deep, progressive thought than constantly threatens to boil over. Delish!

After releasing their debut full length Album on Kompakt last year, Hunter/Game return to Just This with another immersive offering. 
On the ‚Dead Soul EP’ the duo continue to refine their expressive yet subtly arranged sound. The title track unfolds slowly, sculpting the melody, texture and suspense. Joey Anderson’s take on 'Dead Soul' is airy and atmospheric without losing it’s pulsing flow. ‚Isolation’ covers a broad spectrum and is filled with contrasts in which an intense bass interacts with a delicate and breathy melody. 
Balance is key to Hunter/Game’s music and this EP is no exception.

Since Four Triangles was founded to release material from previously unheralded artists working in the space between house, techno and vintage rave, it seems fitting that the label’s second release should come from an analogue explorer still making his way in the world.

You may have stumbled across Jonas Friedlich’s debut solo 12”, a thrillingly forthright collection of hardware workouts that slipped out, unheralded, on Molten Moods late last year. We think the five tracks showcased here offer an extended glimpse in Friedlich’s distinctive musical vision.

Opener “Penalty” is little less than a searing assault on the senses: a dystopian techno slammer built around restless machine percussion, surging dark-side electronics and the kind of foreboding, mind-altering sounds capable of reducing grown men to burned-out husks. If the cast of “Threads” had recorded a machine jam in the midst of nuclear Armageddon, it would most likely sound like this.

The producer’s love of rhythms that spit and swing can be heard on the contrasting broken techno workouts “Phant Durant” and title track “Smartphonejungle”, where short bursts of junglist energy puncture another intoxicating, post-apocalyptic throb-job. It’s acid, but not as we know it.

On “Sczigar”, Friedlich’s most trusted collaborators, fellow Carl Gari members Jonas Yamer and Till Funke lend a hand. Between them, the three men imagine an icy, windswept scene, where hissing machine cymbals, paranoid chords and speaker-rattling low-end tones enhance the bleak and forlorn mood.

Should anyone still need convincing of Friedlich’s skill, he delivers one last shot across the bows: a crackling chunk of pulsing, post-electro creepiness entitled “Deff Heidi”. While the producer’s chosen drum hits are raw and crunchy, and the bass similarly rough, these elements are offset by almost melancholic electronics. It’s a fittingly evocative end to an EP bursting at the seams with otherworldly analogue excursions.

Dutch synth duo Staatseinde finally releases their debut 6 track EP on vinyl on the label Enfant Terrible. The duo's sound changed: more up-tempo, louder, more beat orientated… and also darker as before, so expect some punchy tracks with EBM and cold wave influences. Though, the Dutch label Enfant Terrible is known for this kind of stuff. Founded in 2004, the label was one of the first labels to start to give recognition and attention to the pioneers of minimal electronics / proto-elektro / avant-garde pop / experimental pop from the early 1980's. 
The EP will be out on September 15th.

This time that's 4 track EP by LCN, a reminiscent of Invasion Planete and Kommando 6 output but with a cleaner and more modern sound. If you like(d) these early 2000’s elektro sounds you will love this too… This EP follows up on the steady stream of releases LCN has been putting out lately. Among them on labels as Frigio Records and Return To Disorder. But this is probably his most dark and freaked out release up till now…
