Funk Cabal's latest release is a bold fusion of hard-hitting electro-funk, cinematic textures, and art-rock sensibilities. Channelling the deep grooves of Kerri Chandler, the atmospheric tension of Massive Attack, and the poetic urgency of Gil Scott-Heron, their sound is a masterclass in contrast - where gritty analogue beats collide with ethereal synth backed landscapes. Smoky, introspective vocals intertwine with pulsing club energy in a mesmerising collection of ideas. Echoes of sly romanticism and widescreen synth work add depth to their palette, creating something absolutely timeless.

This 5 tracker covers a lot of ground, humanist themes intertwine throughout with snapshots from life. The easy appeal of the record is plain to see, each track pulls in a different direction and the vocal work keeps its momentum as you listen. Within the tight EP format, it is unafraid to flip the script, transitioning from rolling Italo arpeggios to laid back broken breaks at the drop of a hat, all this gives the record a freshness that is rare.

Drew Davies is from the North York’s Moors. After starting his musical career in the rock n roll trenches of London and moonlighting for whoever would have him he now resides in the post-industrial artistic hotbed of Glasgow. 

He has written many songs and played some iconic shows. From London' s Scala and legendary Underworld to Download Festival & the Brudenell Social. He has also been fortunate enough to have his music played by BBC DJ's such as Mickey Bradley (BBC Ulster), Gary Crowley (BBC London), Bruce Dickinson (BBC 6), Jericho Keys (BBC Introducing) and the late great Janice Long (BBC Wales) amongst others.

His latest work is his most expansive, inspired by the world around him and the themes of love, loss and the human experience. Drew has created a sonic soundscape that can feel ominous like a storm rolling over a city or comforting like the warm sun caressing the back of your neck. This approach has garnered him praise from publications such as Earmilk, Clash, Music Crowns and Wonderland.
