Seven years deep into the belly of the beast, Vienna-based Belly Dance Services return with a globe-spanning exercise. Their latest V/A enlists eight world-class producers for a jet-lagged journey through modular mischief and transcontinental club psychedelia. It's less a compilation, more a clandestine meeting of audio agents plotting a reroute of global frequencies...For our premiere, we shine a light on Globemaster’s 'Irritilas' – a slow-motion chugger that feels like it’s been smuggled out of some sacred dance ceremony deep in the Sierra Madre. Built at a slo mo 110 BPM pace, it slinks through your psyche with rubbery bass, ritualistic percussion and arpeggios that glisten like morning dew on obsidian. The breakdown hits like hallucinatory visions, conjuring forgotten myths and almost-extinct cultures via a sequencer of infectious arpeggios.

Everything Liquid is a brand-new duo formed in LA. This is their first outing, and it speaks to a pair who have some serious studio chops. They have immediately cooked up a highly developed sound that showcases masterful drum programming, a range of organic and synthetic sound designs and great balance between dynamic grooves and musical synths that leave a lasting impression. 

The EP opens with 'No Signal' featuring Chicago's Jamaican-American singer-songwriter Jesse Boykins III who has previously featured alongside the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Tiga and Machinedrum. It's a thrilling broken beat cut with punchy rhythms oﬀset by the gorgeous falsetto vocals that bring smoky soul next to expressive synth lines and lush chords. The dub version is pared back to the kinetic beats and meticulous percussion for direct dancefloor action. 

The superb 'L A R P' is another masterfully programmed blend of warm, smeared chords and prickly broken beat patterns that sweep you oﬀ your feet and 'Time' then gets more deep and late night. Sultry spoken words bring a sense of intimacy to the organic grooves that rise and fall beneath lingering melancholic keys. Finally, 'Airbud' is an almost eight-minute synth symphony that takes you on a journey through widescreen worlds. Some pads flicker like a dodgy light build, some arc up in grandiose fashion and others twinkle like distant stars. It's a trippy place to get lost.

Guava returns to Faux Poly as the first artist to release a second EP on the label. Shifting gears into a faster, Techno-focused territory all whilst breaking up the EP with his immersive signature oscillating Dub-Techno-esque atmospherics. This new record is a departure from Afterglow, further embracing light and dark moods with a hypnotic intensity throughout that feels both urgent yet deeply considered.

This release opens a new chapter for Guava, as he embraces the weight and velocity of the dancefloor without sacrificing his signature playfulness. The result is a dynamic, high-energy follow-up that solidifies his evolving sound making ’All Out’ the perfect next step for both the artist and the label.

Words from Guava:

"This record was written in a flow state. For me, it was the most enjoyable EP I’ve made, and I think you can hear that in the music. It came about due to a slight shift in mindset regarding the creative process. I started by making an Ableton template as a way to limit my options. I spent a couple of days trying to nail a sound - referencing and experimenting with different instruments. I would then set a timer and “mess up” what I had created. The deal was that I could do anything I wanted.

This approach was a game-changer for me because it created a cohesive sound across all the tracks. A lot of my process was inspired by one of my heroes, Alexander Rodchenko, a photographer and graphic artist from the Soviet Union. What fascinated me most was the limitations he worked with - he didn’t have access to the fancy digital tools we use today. There was something about that constraint that I envied, and I wanted to bring a similar sense of restriction into my own creative process."

The second track on the New Dawn EP is called Home Alone and it is probably my favourite one on here.

It's giving me 3am dark room, big sound system vibes which is really where I want to be IRL.

It's definitely been too long since I was in an environment like that and listening back to this one is making me need to book tickets to a night out asap.
