They roamed through town leaving a trail of chaos in their wake. Some worshipped them whilst others feared them – that was all part of the charm.

They cared little for the thoughts of others anyway, that was just an afterthought preceded by the mischief that they might cause upon any given evening. As the sunset they gathered on the street corners in gangs to dance and chant, make merriment and cause trouble.

They were baddies all right. As bad as they came.

One day they might regret all of this but as the weekend rolled in at full speed, they too prepared themselves for the heat of the night ahead.

Tom Esselle is set to release a new EP on Rhythm Section International – the now long running London based record label continues its voyage through the meandering world of house music. This time its with a carefully curated collection of tracks which draw for the bounce as much as they deliver on the feels beneath.

Lava Lava proudly welcomes Jakob Mäder to the family with an irresistible 2-track debut.

Over the past few years Jakob has become an influential figure in the Stuttgart scene, running events with his Midnight Service crew and playing alongside acts like Johannes Albert, Marie Lung and Panthera Krause. When he’s not been playing live he’s been notching up acclaimed releases on Frank Music, Zissou, Skylax and Berlin Bass Collective as well as his own Constant Change imprint.

Title-track ‘Sparkling’ kicks off the EP with crunchy percussion and rounded bass notes. Classic piano lines interplay with spiralling synths and acid hooks while echoing snare hits drive you through this peak-time track.

'Enjoy The Light’ blends modern Deep House sounds with club-focussed 90’s nostalgia. Low slung drums and shuffling percussion bounce alongside bright keys and breathy angelic vocals while spaced out synth licks unfold across the track giving an added sense of depth and warmth.

In an electronic music landscape often dominated by fleeting trends, the pursuit of genuine "Understanding" is a commendable ambition, and it’s this very concept that Stuttgart’s Jakob Mäder (SXDNS418) explores with impressive depth on his latest EP for Munich’s Dance Petrol Records. Mäder is no stranger to aficionados of the German house scene, having previously delivered compelling works for a roster of acclaimed imprints including theBasement Discos, Miura, Frank Music, Zissou, Constant Change, and TOYS Berlin, just to name a few. This history reveals a producer with a refreshingly versatile palette, refusing to be pinned to a single subgenre. The title giving track Understanding dives straight into deep territories. Snappy chords and vocal fragments ride a slick, understated groove, resulting in a track that feels both timeless and fresh—a clear continuation of Mäder’s deep, soulful approach to the dancefloor.

Strings follows with ethereal pads, thumpin’ kicks, and a warm, rounded bassline. French duo Birds of Mind makes its debut on Underyourskin Records with one of the most outstanding tunes in recent House history . ‘Flying Through the Soul‘ perfectly prepares dancefloors in summer for a spiritual and emotional ride full of hope, mournfulness, severity and melancholy expressed through a shaman vocal chant that unfolds its power in the deepness of the synth melody with additional folk samples. Just Emma‘s remix lowers the tempo of the original adding their magnificant crunchy baseline and flavoring the melody with groaning synth sounds that make the track more and more hypnotical in the course implementing these engrossing chants to have a start to finish winning. The second remix comes from Dutch producer El Mundo who adds an Iberian touch to the track by bringing in a Mediterranian guitar that points out the confidence. Birds of Mind‘s second tune ‘Palang Kuh‘ completes the EP with a synth-driven downtempo vibe with arps flying around like boomerangs cutting the air.

Helsinki-based producer Saine makes his Delusions debut following amazing output on such revered labels as Voyage Recordings, Odd Socks, Omena and Fina. A producer who can flit from hazy instrumental hip hop through to raw, dusty house at the flick of a switch, Saine has built a solid following amongst lovers of left field leanings we’ve come to expect from the likes of Max Graef, Glenn Astro, Henry Wu and Leon Vynhall. 
On lead track Act Natural we find Saine in perhaps his heaviest mood to date, delivering a crunchy uptempo house jam which retains his unique sound despite being aimed firmly at the dancefloor. A speaker wobbling eighth note bassline locks down the groove whilst familiar, much-loved fragments from the rave days punctuate the crackling beats. Add to this some simple syncopated chords and you have a winning formula for a timeless track which looks to the future whilst respectfully doffing it’s cap to the past.
Jus Right continues in a deeper, more musical fashion with Saine getting busy on his synths, building up layers of warm pads and soloing Moog lines. A prominent vocal brings a soulful touch whilst the minimal, almost hihat-less groove adds an original and fresh feel to this blissful track. Flipping over we have Low Key, a shuffling deep house number loaded with sliced Rhodes samples, echoing vocal hits, clipped percussion and sublime bass. As the atmosphere thickens, everything falls away to silence before rebuilding, creating some nice tension in the arrangement. 
Finally we have Pontchartrain offering up an excellent remix of Jus Right. The Detroit native responsible for some mighty fine releases for the likes of Rocksteady Disco, Lovedancing, Soul Clap, Kolour LTD and Whiskey Disco takes things in a more straight-up house direction with heavier beats, 909 hats pushed to the fore and a distinctively old school feel to the mix.
