Coming in strong after celebrating its first year of existence, the Bella Ursa mothership resumes its journey through the many cosmic layers of its Nebula Aranea series. This series is dedicated to bringing together like-minded artists with a genuine fondness for probing the uncharted worlds between genre boundaries.

Curated with great care by label-head Letherique, this second opus digs deeper into the darker path previously set. Blissfully blending our notorious cinematic touch with a wide array of styles, Nebula Aranea #2 ranges from thundering Electro Body Music to languorous Darkwave and otherworldly experimentations.

Growing the Ursa family further, we’re proud to yet again welcome artists from very distinctive horizons:

· Arabian Panther and Frust (aka Blind Delon) from the boiling and ever-surprising Toulouse scene.

· The tenebrous dark madonna Lady Maru and Raw Culture’s maestro Asymmetrical from Roma.

· Geotropism (aka Cyclic Backwash), Akkadien (aka TeTTSUO and C.Ysme), and Orosirian (aka C.Ysme), three highly-regarded activists from the French free party movement.

· The mad scientist Cellarkalt (aka Snuffo) and John Carpenter’s secret son Balaban from Germany.

· Bella Ursa MVP and Dutch electro sensation Lloyd Stellar, along with Latvia’s devilish monk Cying Skies.

· And, of course, the line-up wouldn’t be complete without a few novel picks from Bella Ursa’s hometown, Strasbourg: Alpha Sect, Krauss, and Lethako, a new side project by Letherique and Itako.

It’ll be released digitally and on a beautiful laser-etched C-90 cassette tape.

As the mothership celebrates its second year of cruising through the boundless stars towards the Unknown, it is once again time to bring on board a new batch of like-minded souls. Collectively, we probe the myriad of cosmic layers that form the Ursa Nebulas.
After delving into the darkest depths of the Aranea Nebula, the captain woke up one day feeling an irresistible attraction towards a gentler, lighter glow. Far-off. Unusual in its presence and echoing rather exotic pulsations.

Chasing the chants of these galactic sirens, we set course to new and uncharted territories that dramatically expand the Ursa universe. This is a realm where ethereal atmospherics and eerie vocals casually meet trancey shoegaze, acid blends in with chic breakbeats, and alien rockstars appear to perform video game music. But still... be wary of the occasional grasp of elegant creepiness and cinematic constructs, palpable remnants of our previous journey.

Out of this astral maelstrom of sonic oddities, a new series has emerged that we’re proud to present to you today: Nebula Scarabea

Swiss record label Blizzard Audio Club prepare to release the forthcoming album from long-standing label affiliate Pavel...Our pick from the album is 'I'm eclipsed, I'm elsewhere', an experimental piece of drone electronica enhanced by a nexus of chirping echoes, dismantled percussions and dewy-eyed piano chords. With humming chords taking over from the second half of the track, Pavel delves into a veiled moonscape filled with drone-infused oscillations and hair-rising chord progressions.

Apibūdinti minialbumo skambesį nelengva – čia susijungia lietuviški, poeziją primenantys tekstai su elektroniniais ir perkusiniais ritmais, manipuliuojama sintezuotais garsais, gitarų, styginių ir pučiamųjų instrumentų tekstūromis. Kūrinių daugiasluoksniškumas atskleidžia kūrėjos transformaciją ir unikalaus skambesio ieškojimą, kurį įkvepia ją auginančios muzikinės įtakos.

'Namai' EP marks the debut mini-album from 'thelastsunday'. It explores the complex relationship between humanity and its surroundings: encompassing nature, people and self. The sound of the mini-album is not easy to describe - it combines Lithuanian poetry-like lyrics with electronic and percussive rhythms, synthesised sounds, guitars, strings and brass instruments. The multi-layered nature of the works reveals the artist's transformation and pursuit of a unique sonic identity, inspired by her lifelong musical influences.

After well-received incursions on NEIN and When Disco Goes Wrong, London-based producer Ian Vale is finally back on the rising & shining British imprint Paisley Dark. His “Many Times” EP presents Ian adding more flavours to his already miscellaneous sonority, “a testament to Ian's versatility and skill as a producer” and a true showcase of his creativity and “ability to captivate listeners with a dynamic range of sounds and atmospheres.” On board with equally competent remixes, Al Mackenzie, Ben Hunt, and Julius.

Premiered here, Al Mackenzie’s take on the title track also depicts the capabilities and influences of the seasoned British DJ and producer who has been fighting the good fight for more than 30 years – and counting! Managing to keep most of the main elements of the original but deploying his personal touch with more speed and stamina, Al’s version is definitely a secret weapon for packed dance floors eager for intelligent electronic music.

Syrinx Music’s tenth digital EP is the works of Saint-Etienne’s producer dubmentalist. A member of the French bass scene since the late 00s, Olivier Satre patiently built his take on drum&bass, breaks & more making great use of numerous devices & instruments he found in flea markets and secondhand stores. The Journey EP showcases this approach to sound: anchored in contemporary halftime d&b, it derives it towards a more narrative, introspective version, hinting at IDM & 90s electronica. These four tracks may also been seen as a story of the dubmentalist project, melting loops, samples & bruises that where sometimes collected more than 15 years ago, or referencing memories of the artist.

From its very first seconds, title-track “Journey” assembles around layers of retro electronic organs, samples from raï tapes and a drum section influenced by modern halftime and old-school hip-hop, giving a luminous, timeless feeling. The darker “Memories” is based on a haunting piano melody, which builds a nostalgic and uneasy vibe that feels closer to trip-hop, while “Elliptic” offers yet another take on dubmentalist’s sound with its subtly shifting loops, slowly developing an unsettling groove that seems to constantly rebuild. The EP’s last track, “Ghosts In My TK6”, matches creaking sounds, weird noises and more, coming from a vintage portable recorded, which are recycled in a perfectly arranged d&b track. It also closes an EP that feels both evocative and personal, as well as a new Syrinx Music release located in between the club & the lab.

Themed around the words uttered by the father of the atomic bomb when he realized that the world would never be the same after the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it is the perfect soundtrack for these uncertain times.

As a deserving finale to this futuristic trip, label head Letherique gives the leading track a more cinematic twist with an ever-evolving epic structure and bass drums feeling like meteors raining one after another on the surface of the Earth.

For its fourth release, French label Bella Ursa Recordings introduces you to its ‘Ursa Scindo’ split series. A simple concept exists at its center: drawing power from duality, two like-minded and complementary artists provide a single track each and then proceed to remix each other out. It will not only be released digitally, but also on a single tape with two slightly different designs.
Our pick up here was remix by label honcho Leatherique, who enjoys twisting around Desmostylia with its own brand of spooky cinematic techno. Slowing it down and giving it a shamanic vibe, the track builds anticipation slowly, throwing an incantation on each breakdown and only being disturbed from time to time by a few unsettling bass notes lurking around in the background, like a predator stalking its prey. In the last part it then pounces from out of the shadows, revealing its true Lovecraftian form. It takes the listener completely by surprise and shifts the pace up into second gear.
