Swiss duo Psycho Weazel step in with some dance floor dynamite.

Léo Besso and Ivo Roxo's story is one of kinship; a tale of two friends spurring each other through an ever-ascending journey propelled by soft hearts and a magnetic, boisterous energy.

With hours stacking in the studio, Psycho Weazel defined their sound with the beautifully balanced 'boysdontcry'. This LP sought to give license to emotional expression whilst showcasing an important facet of their characters that extends beyond party starters and is more introspective and complex.

This balance is echoed across their latest outing for Exploited Club. 'Sueño Cálido' is equal parts heartfelt and mobile; club bangers with a cosy tinge perfect for warm summer dance floors.

The title track kicks things off with a deft counterbalance of power and poignancy. Nifty polyrhythms dance a syncopated shuffle under buttery synths that swell into humid plumes, while a boxing bass line tacks together a highly infectious groove. More melodies are gently folded in as emotion mounts, and a clever, free-flowing arrangement keeps the listener engaged, while a certain lo-fi quality wraps them in a homey blanket.

'Sueur' follows up with a slapping 909 drum track adorned with a bubbling organ and broad, colorful synth sweeps. Again, lively sequencing keeps the listener on their toes as drums are expertly dropped in and out, while melodies duck and weave across a bold, no-nonsense DJ tool.

'Body Alarm' brings things to a steamy close. Toms lead the charge here as they form the bones of a totally irresistible vibe, enhanced with carnival vocal cuts and sharp organ jabs. A wild breakdown unfolds as the energy stacks in layers, keeping the mood at boiling point until the very end.

Following releases this year on XXX and Nein, Italian duo Younger Than Me now make their debut on Jennifer Cardini and Noura Labbani’s Dischi Autunno with an outstanding, explorative, yet inherently (and beautifully) 90s-feeling five-track EP.
Three originals, two remixes: ‘Mind Hunter’ leads the cosmic charge, ploughing us beyond the known universe on a ship of acid and pulsating warm analog synths. ‘Feeling Breath’ takes us even deeper into electronica’s most formative decade with an uptempo thrust, more acid and wry elements of trance before ‘Sewer Rat’ takes us deep underground with much more of a percussive techno twist.

The story of Psycho Weazel is that of a musical thunderbolt between two sensitive guys who radiate captivating productions from their studio nestled on the shore of Lake Neuchâtel that can be found on labels such as À Table, Paradise Chilren and Le Jour Me Nuit. Psycho Weazel are an upcoming Swiss duo who grew up at the foot of a mountain and produce radically universal music that’s been supported by the likes of Curses, Red Axes, Who Made Who, Tushen Raï & Cornelius Doctor, Simple Symmetry earning then gigs at venues around the Swiss region. Heavy but delicate, powerful and light, rigid and groovy, these two tracks are the story of a paradox. You never get used to the feeling of cold steel plunging into your brain stem. A moment of muscular convulsion and a metallic aftertaste are a breeze compared to the eye-strained methods my grandfather used to enter virtual realms. Bypassing the archaic detour of beaming data through the senses, hardlining straight to the brain is the favoured method of those seeking a ‘true to life’ experience. As the program boots, vision withdraws and the world collapses. Like the moment in a dream where you’re unsure of your surroundings, but your mind fills in the gaps, the spectacular nature of this voluntary world becomes normality. 

Based out of the Netherlands, the Coloray helmed label ‘Intercept’ is on release duty for Lewski’s latest, Military Simulations. Across its three tracks, Lewski unleashes his unique approach to sound and rhythm, sprinkling the release with otherworldly instrumentation, whilst constantly the building the suspense. Our pick is the title track, an industrial techno stomper, with the best elements of electro and acid thrown in for good measure. The track’s bleeps and warbles atop frantic percussion build excitement for the cyberpunk raves of our near dystopia.

sensitive guys. Two teenagers who discover themselves by comparing their playlists in summer camp and who decide to share their dreams. Since then they have come a long way. exhilarating music at the best venues in the region and elsewhere.
