Israeli producer Nenor delivers a 4-tracker of impeccably produced dancefloor weapons for his second outing on Razor-N-Tape. Since releasing on Moodyman’s legendary Mahogani label a few years back and as part of duo Rabo & Snob, Nenor has been honing his craft in the studio, and now puts his skills on full display on an EP that ranges from the poppy disco house of “How Can I Be Free” to the deep Larry Heard-esque textures of “Do You Remember,” and the gritty underground bangers of  the title track and “Work That.”  He did indeed take his time on this beautifully crafted record, and the result is something quite special.

'Everyone’s favourite Israeli digger is back for another round of gloriously rare edit heat on Razor-N-Tape. Tel Aviv’s Elado returns to the Brooklyn imprint for PT. 2 of his edit series with four deadly disco dancefloor weapons.  Elado has been a driving force in his home city scene, avidly collecting records for three decades and Djing for the best part of two. In 2020 he stormed the edit world where his kaleidoscopic musical palette was heard for the first time on Razor-N-Tape and Eddie C’s Red Motorbike.  He is a master manipulator in turntablism and a much-touted tastemaker, fully immersing himself in Tel Aviv’s vibrant nightlife. Armed with a custom-built rotary mixer from Condesa, he utilizes his musical instincts with rich DJ sets that see him seamlessly weave through breakbeat, electro, disco, house & lost grooves from across the globe. Other releases can be found on G.A.M.M, Barefoot Beats, Bonfido Disques, and the mighty Secret Squirrel.

 'Baila’ gets the party started with infectious flamenco chants and claps over a churning acidic groove, and ‘Disco Hummus’ rounds out the side with a bit of joyful disco cheek. On the flip, ‘Sun’ turns an unlikely cover of a classic into an Afro Disco banger, and ‘Simba’ rumbles and rolls with restraint toward a hypnotic peak of brass and vocals. Music reviewer John Morrison (The Wire Magazine, Bandcamp) calls FSQ's 2020 album "Reprise Tonight", "a testament to funk’s enduring vitality. A veritable treasure chest of danceable grooves and memorable songs."

The concept album, the brainchild of FSQ's Chuck Da Fonk, tells the story of a person who finds they get one last chance to have the party of a lifetime.

Therefore it only makes sense that there's a 2022 follow up release, "Reprise Reprise Tonight", a remix album, that allows the listener to revisit the theme of second and in this case, third chances.

This set builds on the original tunes which feature an all star cast of disco and funk artists like Fonda Rae, Nona Hendryx, George Clinton & members of Parliament Funkadelic, and Dolette McDonald.

It took 10 plus years for FSQ to refine the originals to the point that music critic Morrison would notice the "Reprise Tonight" for "showcasing FSQ’s gift for upbeat, easy-digestible funk."

On "Reprise Reprise Tonight" you'll hear some remixes that were made early on the process of the original album production. For instance, Soul Clap Records label mate Michael The Lion remixed "Vibe Out Now" and the album title track when he was still known as DJ Apt One, and the FSQ project was called fONKSQUISh - e.g. several years ago. We held on tight to Michael's amazing remixes until the ultimate versions of the original songs were finally set.

Norwegian artist Third Attempt continues on a roll with his stunning new EP entitled ‘Soul Lifting’. The effervescent show man again works his compositional magic across four compelling tracks. Steadily turning heads since they began appearing in 2018. Now a cherished member of the Beatservice Records family, the artist has proven himself one of the most inspired artists to have emerged from Norway's rich, meta-disco lineage in recent times. Effortlessly gliding through genres, his distinctive sound expertly blends nu-disco, funk, trip-hop, electronica, and house setting him apart from the rest of the field.
'Love Star' finds TA in typically inspired form. Imaginatively skirting stylistic boundaries, as he elegantly layers atmospheric vocal chops and dexterous musical refrains. Unfolding over a broken rhythm, summery chords are embellished by carefree horns and strings. 'Keep Your Head Up' demonstrates his flair for sampling, as hip-hop vocals and scratches dart over soothing keys, strings, and horns. Supported by thick bass and breaks, the arrangement elegantly unfolds as soulful vocals add mystique to the groove. Continuing the soul-heavy flex, the heartfelt refrains of 'This Love' see searing vocals and whispered words float across a life-affirming musical bed. Sparkling keys saunter over seductive chords as crisp, broken drums carry the groove. 'Believe' sees out the collection, the sumptuous track combines harmonic allure with a stirring tempo. Disco guitar licks saunter over strings and piano chords, the soul-rich vocal embellishes the melody as crisp house drums power the rhythm home.
The 'Soul Lifting EP' is yet more breathtaking work from Third Attempt. Vividly displaying the very essence of his signature sound, sure to enhance his already glowing reputation. Simply unmissable.

Tee Mango is back with a new label by the name of Superunknown and it's looking very hot on the basis of first release, 'EP 1.1'. Here he remixes the punchy hip-house of Burnin Music boss' Pegasvs 'Drinking With My Eyes', injecting it with more of a thumping, loopy disco-funk feel in the vein of Soundstream. Top.

PREMIERE: Jerk Boy - Dropping Acid In Napoli [Sosilly Records]

PBR Streetgang are Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe, a pair completely submerged in the world of club culture their entire adult life. Their debut release ‘Never Get Off the Boat’ dropped in 2008 on Ilija Rudman’s Croatian label Red Music Records and since those early beginnings they have found homes for their signature sound on Futureboogie, Throne Of Blood, 2020Vision, Wolf Music, Crosstown Rebels and Skint Records. Their impressive back catalogue of remixing work includes Kylie, Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry, Hot Chip, Friendly Fires, Crazy P and more. 
 
As DJs they have played across the globe at almost every venue and festival of credible note; Panorama Bar, Fabric, Glastonbury, Love International Festival. With strong links to Ibiza, their residencies include We Love at the infamous Space Club, and more recently Pike’s Hotel. Outside of the studio and the booth, they hold a residency on Rinse FM, becoming one of the mainstays of the station hosting international guests and fresh talent monthly. PBR’s label, Kurtz Records, was created by the duo as a platform for their own output and as a stage to champion some of their favourite new artists and remixers.
 
Fast forward 20 years … 20 f’kin years!  To many crowds the world over PBR Streetgang are known and loved for their talents behind the turntables, but to others they are producers and remixers whose eclectic taste and evolving style has seen them enjoy longevity and much critical acclaim. To celebrate this milestone, PBR bring us a rare selection of originals and remixes that show the breadth and depth of their work. Featuring early originals that propelled them into the limelight, like ‘Downstroke’ and ‘J2Thab’, and more recently their stand-out disco tinged nugget from their debut album ‘Late Night Party Line’.  There are also some previously un-pressed remixes like the cult classic rework of Romanthony -  ‘Bring You Up’, the slow chuggy sleaze of Bryan Ferry -  ‘One Night Stand’, and the teary-eyed euphoria of their remix of Hot Chip - ‘Melody of Love’. This compilation represents an honest retrospective of the production and remix talents of PBR Streetgang. Always keeping true to their sound, and true to themselves.
