Bio:
Chilean expat Theodor Moral is back in Offenbach (Germany) and has settled his new synthesizier studio at Zollamt, focusing on electronoic music production and gear rental / maintenance. As he has re-installed his lifelong Robert Johnson residency, he primarily produces electronic music, with a focus on strong horse and techno music (but not on shitty synthwave / indie dance).

@d-tiffany's remix is a heavily percussive affair, offering up a hyperactive soundscape that feels dense without sounding cluttered – the transformation takes it from low-BPM, slinking breaks to solid 4-to-the-floor dance banger. Beginning with trademark Roland drum work, the Vancouver producer lays down a quantised bedrock of jackin’ kicks, trilling hi-hats and tough snares. Atop this, a deep growling sub bass is ported from the original track, percolating amid the drum work to fill out the bottom end. Material from Caffeine’s original feels sparsely but effectively employed as a complex arpeggio pattern of glitching frog calls find itself situated within the mix as an elongated and melancholic cry, cutting through the arrangement.

The group was a tight knit collective, a merry band of brothers. Togetherness was everything to the gang, nestled within the woods they marched prominently amongst the golden, crispy leaves. The autumn evening was surprisingly warm and the trees cast long shadows outwards over the lakeside. Sparking the fire they grouped together by the water and watched as the stars appeared one by one, speckled across the midnight twilight. It was beautiful. 

Violet has launched a new label in the form of Naive. It follows on from an array of releases on the likes of One Eyed Jacks, Snuff Trax and Cómeme.

Type-303’s breakthrough The New Ravelution EP (released at the end of 2018) was a sonic slap around the chops, throwing a cavalcade of 90’s hardcore & rave samples into the mix, along with a healthy dash of unrelenting Acid. All four slabs of warehouse business were absolutely ripe for the remixing.

This is exactly what lads Timothy Clerkin & The Ransom Note from Insult To Injury felt when the Amsterdam-based imprint came out with the record last year. Fortunately, the label heads have decided to act on this hunch and have chosen to follow up that release with a jam-packed remix EP that features new versions from Thomas Banks, Shun, and Timothy Clerkin himself. However, this all-out Acid affair would not be complete without the one and only Gnork, the Hungarian wizard who has a strong love for chords and bouncy beats.

Today, we are sharing Gnork's take on Type-303's Thousand Pieces. Finding inspiration in 80’s Electro, Gnork manages to fuse the original with modern elements of unadulterated Acid House that leave it almost unrecognizable. Although this remix does not have as many moving parts as Type-303's version, Gnork is able to do less with more and still pack quite the punch. Listeners be warned, this chune will have you furiously robot-dancing around the room in no time!

Astral sex. Demon sperm. Alien DNA. These things may or may not have anything to do with this 2 track release by Italian producer Averze. It’s all a matter of perspective really. I mean, literally - the release is l-i-t-e-r-a-l-l-y called “Perspective”. It begins with the very practically titled “Averze #1” and has all the right ingredients - a euphoric breakbeat (which let’s be honest is the only acceptable kind of breakbeat), a squiggly acid line (yes, yes, ALL acid lines are great but squiggly ones are cute), rave sirens (tick!), and emotive pads gluing the whole damn thing together. It’s the sort of tune that deserves a repeat listen and you know you’ll be fond of years from now even when you think you're over breakbeats (let’s be even more honest, breakbeats are fun for a fling every now and then but you would never want one take them home to meet your mother). The EP ends with the equally descriptive second track “Averze #2” and provides a bit of yang to whatever ying was in the track that came before it. Opting for more subdued Detroit-y 808 beats (the best kind of 808 beats), stabby synths, ping pong vocals, and an almost wubby bassline percolate in perfect harmony. Great for astral sex, conjuring demon sperm or when you just wanna get on the business end of some alien DNA. Depending on how you look at it. Perspective, rrrrrrright?
