Hyperdome's first release of the year comes from up and coming producer Lossk:

‘Brighton, UK, born and raised, Lossk started to get in to dance music in his late teens and then became obsessed with acid and electro and anything in between. An avid lover of Star Wars - he took a name from that and added a twist to create Lossk. After recently starting a label with his brother where they recently released a charity EP - he is back with this release for Hyperdome which oozes electro sleaze.

"ATM" (Automated Terror Machine) is a production/DJ duo based in Tokyo, originally hailing from Boston. Their roots are in house & garage, having several releases under the name “Synare” before branching out into electro, ghettotech, and techno. Their debut Power House EP is out now on Philthtrax, with more material on the way for 2023. The pair originally moved to Japan to teach, but ended up staying for good. Now firmly rooted in Tokyo’s electronic music scene, they’ve been bringing their new sound to some of the city’s most noteworthy venues and parties.

Their Nativecast mix is slammed with acid-laden, percussive electro that builds into high octane techno and jungle towards the finish. Skip the coffee and listen to this mix instead.

With some DJs getting paid 1M+ for shows and artists selling Afro-house to major labels for similar sums, it feels like we are staring into the abyss of another mass commercialisation of dance music. Thankfully, regardless of what is happening at the upper levels, the underground is alive with innovative talent. SMIFF is one such artist. Crafting his art in a post-dubstep, future techno world, he sounds like what would happen if Skream went back in time to grab Jeff Mills from his Purpose Maker era and showed him all the cool shit you can do with drums and samples in 2024. For this remix, he takes "Work" on a 135 bpm ride through swinging subs and razor-sharp rat-a-tats. If you are looking for dancefloor mayhem, step up; it's arrived.

No Static Automatic is proud to cap off the year with the electrifying Cabin Pressure EP from seasoned producer and sound designer Luke Sanger. Set for release on limited edition vinyl, this four-track weapon is a potent fusion of classic electro rhythms and Sanger’s signature world of bleeps, wobbles, and modulated chaos. 

With a career spanning two decades at the nexus of music and technology, Luke Sanger is a relentless innovator. While his roots are often linked to techno, his artistic output defies easy categorization, constantly exploring the full spectrum of electronic music. On the Cabin Pressure EP, he turns his focus to electro, injecting the genre with his uniquely offkilter and captivating sound. 

The EP is a masterful display of analog synthesis. Sanger crafts simple, infectious basslines and leads, then sets them in motion, allowing them to converse, modulate, and evolve into a complex tapestry of sound. The result is a listening experience that is as intellectually fascinating as it is physically compelling. Over a bedrock of sturdy electro beats, Sanger layers acid basslines with wild envelope modulation, distorted humanoid samples, and an array of wobbly, techy textures designed to bring dancefloors to a state of ecstatic, unstable bliss.

for this album,  I have played around with some more moody tunes. They are a little slower than usual, but I was aiming for a more focused listen this time. There are still breaks and beats that drive the tunes, but I was also looking for a different mood this time around. Enjoy!

Now a familiar face on the Cowgate club circuit, 24-year-old DJ and producer SMIFF has made quick moves in the past couple of years: finding his feet at Headset’s long-running parties, holding down a Sneaky Pete’s club residency and more recently hopping on the decks to play a b2b with Skrillex. SMIFF’s sets are adeptly packed with heavyweight belters and more subtle textural sounds, exploring the crossroads between breakbeat, dubstep and other soundsystem influences. With a growing catalogue of releases and regular slots behind the decks at venues all over the city, you can party in comfort of knowing the future of Edinburgh’s dance music is glaringly bright.
