Time to welcome back Argentinian producer Manuel Sahagun to Freerange for his follow up to his brilliant 2019 release Awake. Manuel has been putting out quality house music since the early 2000’s and has released tunes on Berlin’s Tooman, UK’s Drop, and Detroit’s Kolour as well as remixing legends such as Warren ‘Hanna’ Harris, Robert Owens and Patrick Chardronnet. He brings a freshness and eclecticism to his productions that fits in perfectly with the Freerange ethos of forward-thinking house music loaded with warmth, bumping grooves and a touch of soul.

The three tracks on offer here range from the acid-tinged, 707 driven ‘Body’ through shuffled, Detroit-inspired groove of ‘Move’ and closing out on the slow-mo blissed-out Balearic mood on ‘Ritmo Pandemico’. Some great new music to keep your discerning dance floors bouncing to!

Kicking off the release we hear the smoothness of “It Happened One Night” which instantly gives feels of driving through the suburbs on a warm evening. Carefully placed FX blend into the mixdown to pair with the chunky bassline Tony puts forward.

We can’t wait (if you’ll excuse the irony) to get “I’ll Wait For You” pressed onto wax… this is a real vintage track & one that is full of soul. The great use of short vocal chops alongside a real organic clap really gets the body grooving.

Maiden Voyage is the latest EP from rising London-based French producer, Run Bass. Coming to us by way of London-based label, Burnin Music, this EP displays Run Bass’ knack for summertime retro-fitted electronic. Utilizing entirely analog equipment and old-school drum machines, this EP is an assured, funky, yet laid-back collection of tracks.

“Across Borders” is a gorgeous opener that sets the tone for the rest of the EP. The track opens with a decisively laid-back drum pattern and wobbly synths, but quickly picks up in momentum as the modular synth-line and bass kick into gear. Some high-note keys and plucked-string-like synths pepper the main riff, lending the track some unexpected tension to its languorous tone. This all sets the stage for the track’s show-stopping late drop, where all the elements crescendo in a fuzzed-out, modular cornucopia. With “Across Borders”, Run Bass proves himself an expert at creating a retro summer vibe, but with a few tricks up his sleeve, too.

Blessed Madonna, Pete Tong, Gerd Janson, Ash Lauryn... the list of great DJs playing and loving Sam Ruffillo's very special italian disco music is long. With only 3 EPs on Toy Tonics, he might be the most talked about producer on the Berlin label (with Cody Currie and Coeo). One of his Italian disco songs form his last EP ITALIANISSIMO ("Chiamami Subito“) made it into the high rotation playlist of the biggest Italian pop radio and is still growing in the international club underground.

Now Sam comes with a new EP. And this EP shows his other side. Until now Sam has been known for his Italian organic disco songs (no samples, all instruments played live). But for his new BROOKLYN TAPES EP the Italo-Sicilian DJ, producer and super styler Sam Ruffillo worked with a few American rappers and soul singers to create what a New York critic called „post digital soul house music“. 

Remixes for the EP by some of Sam's fans: Ash Lauryn from Detroit, Eli Escobar from New York and Art Of Tones from France.
