They banged and banged and banged. All night long, the rumble of the percussion could be heard in the corridors and grand halls of the great warehouse - a symphony of drums almost hypnotic in their tone and their style. The pace was relentless, drummers beating their sticks furiously whilst dancers moved chaotically in the darkness like wild shadows of the night. Why it was this way he did not know. Once a year they would gather to tear themselves apart beneath the steel chamber - a wild night of dancing as an escape from all else. 

Benoit B is a producer who never fails to surprise and delight. Whether it's crafting oddball ambient experiments or piecing together leftfield club bangers it can be hard to know what you are going to get from this very talented producer. This next EP on Australian imprint Animals Dancing is destined for the dancefloor yet maintains the playful sensibilities and creative expression of a musician very much focussed on having fun and doing whatever the hell they like.

Catz 'n Dogz are dropping on their Step the 'Reality Check' EP from Milan's legendary Elisa Bee.

Elisa Bee is not a new face on the scene. She has released music on cutting edge labels for the last 10+ years, including UTTU, I Love Acid, Balkan Recordings to name but a few. She now joins the extensive roster of Step Recordings which includes the likes of Third Son, Jackson Ryland, Baltra, Metropolitan Soul Museum and many more.

Elisa Bee's latest work, 'Reality Check' EP, is a collection of 3 club focused gems, starting with the trippy and somewhat melancholic title track. The second cut, 'Soul Travelling' is pure space age Techno, with relentless synth melodies driving the track's unstoppable groove. DJ, producer and recording artist David Agrella is an artist with a growing reputation as a versatile selector. Showcasing his musical inspirations across genres via his ‘Agrellomatica’ slot on London radio station Bloop, the first release on his recently launched eponymous imprint gained support from artists including Moxie, Korea Town Acid, and Jane Fitz alongside high praise from the likes of Ransom Note, Vinyl Factory and Bolting Bits. Up next, he returns to welcome a fresh set of material for the label’s second release, ‘Robot Romance’.
‘Electric Nostalgia’ is an utterly addictive track that draws you in right from the start as swirling synths and subby pads float above crisp breaks. ‘Robot Romance’ slowly intensifies with fluttering chords that feel weightless as the even kick drums meet an elastic bassline, providing a propulsive gem. Agrella’s Transition Mix of ‘Fallin’ which closes the EP with pummeling drums and muscular acidic melodies, which are integral to the peak-time feel of the track.

Paisley Dark Records are buzzing to annouce the labels fifth release proper, Norra Linjen, a haunting primetime techno bomb by "The Machine Soul" aka Robert Folkesson. This follows previous releases by Dan Wainwraight, From Beyond, UFO Club and the 10” vinyl EP from Matt Gunn. 
Norra Linjen (Northern Lights) is accompanied by two electrifying remixes. The first being from Man2.0 (Nein Records) who delivers an old school techno vibe whislt sounding like the future has arrived early. 
The second remix, the aptly named “Rave Remake mix, courtesy of When Disco Goes Wrong’s head honcho Mindbender, sees chilling synth riffs gliding effortlessly over bubbling 303 acid lines.

PREMIERE : The Machine Soul - Norra Linjen (Mindbender Rave Remake)

Pre-rave jitters had set in; her stomach was doing somersaults and her legs felt like jelly. These feelings were fuelled by excitement and anticipation, but she still had no idea what to expect of the evening, it was all completely new to her. Friends had told her about the wonders of these underground parties but she really had to see it for herself, at the moment it felt like an imaginary utopia, a place too perfect to actually exist...

Swedish producers Viktor and Henrik are the minds behind Elfenberg. Having released music on the likes of Bordello A Parigi, Wrong Era, Trampoliner and Rotten City Records, to name a few, the pair now take their creations to Barcelona's Playground Records for A Cow Called Belle. Harking back to the rave and acid house sounds of the early 90s, the three original cuts marry rolling grooves and squelchy, driving synth lines, which are pushed further into trance-inducing territory by Iñigo Vontier and Juan MacLean who take care of the remixes.

Through the alias Trascendance, coined in 2021, Riccardo Buccirossi obtains an alchemical mixture of techno, electro and acid, which are precisely the strands from which he draws inspiration for the debut album of Havalon Records founded by Alessandro Di Fulvio and Jacopo. In "Formula", a title in line with the alchemical world, he unrolls a red-hot metal spiral on a soft and malleable beat that melts like butter under the desert sun. "Reaction" moves on similar coordinates through Tb-303 barbed wire and bleepy squares in the background. Finally, the left setting of "Creation" is followed by "Havok" which summarizes the Detroit lesson by intertwining it with vibrant and virtuous acid veins.

The interesting U’re Guay Records brings to life its Vol. 39 presenting Addi de la Cruz aka Umvral (FREEDL018/046), owner of the dangerous and lethal Mexican label Veneno. Hailing from Mexico City, Umvral has been steadily developing quite a solid work as A&R, DJ, and producer, having achieved both local and international recognition not only because of his undeniable talent but also charisma and competence. His works have already appeared on some of the most respected imprints of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene such as Bonkers, Controlla, Logia, Emerald & Doreen, Quixotical, and his very own Veneno, for instance.

For his debut on the Montevideo-based platform, Addi decided to explore his Trance and Techno influences delivering two fat & smelly peak-time originals. On the remixes duties, Aleito, Cu Da Curuxa, and Parallel (SXDNS319) brought their own traits to the party.

Premiered here, “Viva La Trance” is definitely that kind of track that is devoted to wreaking havoc on the dance floor. Its acid and frenzied atmosphere is mainly established by throbbing and nervous synth layers topped with bleepy and playful laser-like sound effects. Yes, the 134-BPM pace helps a lot to set the mood!
