Meet Kate Pending, an enigmatic and ingenious Berlin-based artist whose very first full-length album works as a wide introduction to the universe of her many influences and capabilities. The edgy “Pigmented Reality” develops its magic through twelve well-constructed originals – plus three insightful remixes by Void Loop ( ) and Iron Curtis –, spanning amongst different textures and soundscapes. Ethereal, experimental, progressive, and whatnot strokes come together and bring to life a multi-genre palette, filled with a ubiquitous synth extravaganza that results in both dance-floor-oriented gems and relaxing introspective themes. 

The mastermind behind the remix premiered here, in turn, needs no introduction. His rich discography with acclaimed appearances on vital labels such as Frank Music, Melomana, Permanent Vacation, DistroKid, Dirt Crew, Vitalik, and Chiwax, just to name a few, has put Iron Curtis among the most interesting and solicited House Music artists of his generation. His two Electro-tinged breaks Augmented and Augmented Dub reworks of the title track deliver the stripped back maximalist sound we come to expect from him. The energy and gravity of the original was kept but comes now clad in a peak-time gait.

Dancing through the clouds, it seemed as if they might never find their way back to earth. Up above the world below, they felt at home wandering amidst the deep blue, watching as the fluffy pillows floated on by beneath them casting shadows down upon a dense green planet. From time to time they’d catch a glimpse of where they had arisen from, only to become re-emerged in the density of the fluffy white orbs.

They wandered atop a rainbow road, in the search of something more, something far more than what was beneath. They danced amidst the stars upon a highway of technicolour dreams.

This was the vision of a new future.

Anna Schreit is a Berlin producer and DJ who has dedicated an EP to close friends. Forthcoming on Compost Records this one showcases elegant House music with a nod to Detroit and beyond.

DJ duo Studio Batsumi (aka Federico Bigonzetti & Marta Paccagnella) reveal details for the first release of their self-titled joint label venture with five-track EP Cosmicomics. The first musical outing from the pair’s new imprint, Studio Batsumi are set to release their original records via the label, as well as offering a platform for burgeoning artists to release their music. With a focus on analogue, for the first few months all releases will be vinyl only (exclusively via Bandcamp). Making the natural step up from selectors and musicians to bona fide label bosses, founding the label marks a new beginning for the pair.

Known for their genre-defying DJ sets, regularly appearing at London’s most reputable listening bars such as Spiritland, Brilliant Corners and Supermax, as well as club previous shows at The Ton of Brix, The Jago, Cafe 1001 and The Waiting Room, the Studio Batsumi imprint plans to follow suit, genre-fluid while sonically defined, much like the pair’s DJ offering.

With the launch EP Cosmicomics written and produced by Federico alongside Parisian guitarist, producer and sound engineer Maxime Obadia, the varying musical backgrounds of the two artists demonstrates this versatile aesthetic for the label expertly, with Fede rooted in electronic and Maxime’s rock background working in harmony on the EP. Combining live instruments with drum machines, synths and a host of genre influences. Artists such as such The Pilotwings, GHF, Kalbata, YuSu, and L’Éclair have been cited as influences on the first EP.

Featuring three original tracks, a remix from esteemed Turkish DJ and producer Jonny Rock and one of Federico’s own versions on B2, the tracks range from bassline-driven downtempo chuggers, dreamy guitar riffs, trippy arpeggios and distorted, wonky pads for a rich and eclectic sound palette to work on and off the dancefloor. Texturised layers of live instrumentation and analogue equipment further enhance the organic and unique quality of Studio Batsumi sound.

With an artist-first approach, Studio Batsumi releases will be on a limited 300-press run, sold exclusively via Bandcamp. To celebrate the launch of the label, on Saturday 13 April the duo will host an in store at Hidden Sounds in Dalston, with the party carrying on at Brilliant Corners where the pair will play a special all-night-long set.

La Mano returns to his Sound Du Jour label with an emotive three-tracker.

The title track on La Mano’s ‘Fabricca’ EP is a deep and evocative piece featuring heavy-duty reverbs, distant snares and gorgeous arp melodies. ‘Fabricca’ marks La Mano’s return to his Sound Du Jour label, following his 2021 ‘Tarvisio’ EP, which launched the label, and a remix for MAN 2.0’s ‘Synapse’ on the imprint shortly after. Since then, he has gone on to release a remix for Man Power on Me Me Me and work on releases with the likes of Andy Ash, Marcus Christiansen and Demetae via Sound Du Jour.

‘Fiume’ is up next on La Mano’s ‘Fabricca’ EP. It’s an ever-evolving dreamscape on an electro tip, digitised birdsong occasionally breaking through its vibrant layers of harmony. This is before ‘Onda’ closes out the release via rich pads, a gated vocal, and club-ready drums. It’s the perfect finish for another versatile and melodic offering on Sound Du Jour.

Hot on the heels of Manuel Tur’s heavyweight vinyl reissue of his cinematic downtempo long player ‘Intertextural’ comes this package of remixes of four standout tracks by DJ Counselling, All is Well and Japan’s Yuu Udagawa.

London producer DJ Counselling opens the EP with his energetic version of ‘Omina’, raising tempo and hands with an expertly executed arrangement, while the newly added filtered synth chords echo some of Tur's best-known releases of the late noughties. Next up is Montreal’s Frédéric Blais aka All Is Well.  After his recent album success on Drumpoet, and his current long player drop under his Fred Everything moniker, the Canadian master producer turns up the heat on ‘Flakon’ flipping it into a head-nodding groove masterpiece that recalls the subtle 90s trip-hop flavour of the original version. On the B-side, Tokyo native Yuu Udagawa - who has collaborated with Tur on several occasions - unleashes two shimmering, ethereal remixes of ‘Slow White’ and ‘Shadowgraph’ that guide the listener on a floating journey through Yuu’s signature sparkling sound.

On Oath’s latest release, the imprint is beyond proud to bring renowned Canadian producer Jesse Bru into the fold, who brings with him a truly barnstorming collection of music that dips deep into the inbetween and brings forth a captivating audial experience like no other……

Jesse Bru remains one of modern dance music’s most intriguing technicians, both from a humanistic and machine driven perspective. His sound is born deeply from 90s sample based approaches, and this fascination has been stretched out and rewritten constantly throughout his releases to great effect. Bru primarily releases music under the guise of House, but to delve deep within his records is to see a much broader perspective, where many genres can be found within the grooves and rhythms. His melodic work, with a particular emphasis on vocal samples as part of melodic exchanges with pianos and synths, is inspiring to say the least, and as a core facet of his work always aims to shift his sound onwards and upwards. There aren’t many styles that aren’t touched upon within his discography, and his journey to date feels very much like an exercise in understanding the liminal spaces that persist between a myriad of genres. Bru always finds new ways to mesmerise, entice and unfurl within his music, joyous yet calculated and unraveling - a distinctly infectious sound that keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. With stellar releases on labels such as Slothboogie, Aterral, Oath’s sub-label Last Year at Marienbad, Blaq Numbers and Happiness Therapy, there’s plenty to delve into and get to know.

‘Sea to Sky’ is Bru’s first LP since 2020’s ‘The Coast’, and there isn’t much ground or in-between spaces which he doesn’t cover over the album’s 13 glorious tracks. Shifting from simmering ambient to pumped up electro, sparkling House cuts through to unravelling downtempo numbers, Bru ensures the listener leaves the experience feeling the totality of his universe.

Soiree Records continue turning heads with their latest various artist offering, "Everland". Hitting shops from June 17, 2024 - this record feels like a cross-section of what the label has been offering the ever shifting sands of the Deep House scene in recent years. Brought to life by the deft artistry of Drivetrain, Blaktony, Funtom, and Hughes Giboulay.

"Everland" is a collection of timeless Deep House music, written through the unique lenses of the four artists, each track a chapter in a larger story of musical exploration and emotive depth. "Hyperlock" by Drivetrain opens the EP and sets the foundation with its solid low-freq assault and seismic energy levels, an exploration of depth and dynamism. Following this, Blaktony's "Butt Naked" establishes its own style with its unique but catchy bassline, weaving a narrative that is both danceable and resonant in a more laid back manner.

Funtom's "Wisdom" relies on rhythmic sophistication with its tribal beats and deep drum workout, punctuated by sharp, intelligent sequences. Closing the record, Hughes Giboulay's "Kickin That Feelin" captures the character of early proto-house, with its animated vocal work and a hypnotic solo, blending traditional Deep House elements with innovative sound design.

PREMIERE : Blaktony - Butt Naked

Mysterious producer Virtual Reality is self-releasing two LPs: the 'Galaxi Zoo' & 'Hidden Galaxi' volumes. The two albums are part of the same body of work and are the products of months spent in the studio, mostly during the tough lockdown imposed on Italy in the Spring of 2020.
Virtual Reality split albums mix a variety of influences going from Aphex Twin and Squarepusher to Detroit and Early Berlin Techno scenes, from Drexcyia to Burial. Each track is carefully crafted in the studio with the use of analogue machines and recorded natural sounds to keep a fantastic Industrial feel to it. This heterogeneous mixture of genres, sounds, art forms is the perfect exemplification of the infinite variety of elements that compose galaxies - the theme behind Virtual Reality's latest body of work.
The project is also full of personal and intimate moments and is a truly heartfelt piece of music, also due to the fact it's dedicated to someone close to the artist who unfortunately is not with us anymore.
Be ready to travel sonically with Virtual Reality's LPs 'Galaxi Zoo' & 'Hidden Galaxi' - out both in physical and digital format in January 2021 and March 2021
