Для другого міксу серії Gasoline Selectors ми без вагань обрали запис сету Богдана Кривошеї, який під іменем Nota Yanvarska виконав його на події, присвяченій річниці Gasoline Radio.

Активну культурну діяльність Богдан розпочав у 2015 році після повернення з навчання у Лондоні. Саме тоді він заснував музичну формацію THP, яка наповнювала столичні та закордонні майданчики денними і нічними вечірками під назвою “Social Spot”. Окрім цього, Богдан сприяв створенню Kyiv Vegan Boom, фестивалю дисоціативного мистецтва “That’s Wassup”, керамічної майстерні Gorn Ceramics та творчого цеху 22fworks.

Свою пристрасть до музики автор міксу втілює у різноманітних виключно вініл сетах. Японський ембієнт, джазові пасажі, хрусткий брейкбіт та насичений тріп-хоп — у ретельно відібраній суміші ритмів та мелодій Богдан демонструє, що здобув статус селектора завдяки тривалим пірнанням у бездонні глибини платівкових грувів.

For the second mix of the Gasoline Selectors series, we instinctively chose a set by Bohdan Kryvoshei, who performed as Nota Yanvarska at an event celebrating Gasoline Radio's birthday.

After returning from his studies in London, Bohdan's active cultural involvement began in 2015. Then, he founded the music collective THP, filling both Kyiv and foreign venues with day and night parties under the name "Social Spot". 
Alongside this, Bohdan contributed to the creation of Kyiv Vegan Boom, the dissociative art festival "That’s Wassup", the ceramic workshop Gorn Ceramics, and the creative workshop 22fworks.

In his mixes, the author channels his passion for music into diverse vinyl-only sets. Japanese ambient, jazz passages, crisp breaks, and dense trip-hop — in his carefully selected blend of rhythms and melodies, Bohdan demonstrates that he earned his selector status through extensive diving into the profound depths of vinyl grooves.

QU'EST-CE QUE C'EST QUE LA MUSIQUE BALEARIC ?

C'est à peu près tout, ou rien. C'est un genre qui ne connait pas de frontière musicale, remontant au début des années 80, lorsque des DJs de toute l'Europe se rendaient à Ibiza pour essayer sur un public nombreux et eclectique, prêt à danser sur TOUT, de nouveaux genres et/ou techniques de mix 🫠
En gros, au delà de la musique, c'est un public qui s'engage à rencontrer le dancefloor avec l'ouverture d'esprit nécessaire pour se laisser emporter par les lubbies d'un DJ qui ne connait aucune contrainte. En d'autres mots: C'EST LA LIBERTÉ ! 🕊️🌈

Xploding Plastix make a welcome return to Beatservice Records with their mesmerising new extended EP, 'Thus'.

The production pairing of Jens Petter Nilsen and Hallvard Wennersberg Hagen made a hiatus-breaking return as Xploding Plastix in 2023 with the acclaimed 'This Is Accurate' long-player, carrying on the ground-breaking work that helped put them on the musical map throughout the '00s. After taking time out to score music for film, TV, and video games, the stylistically adventurous duo continue their rebirth with nine gorgeously immersive cuts that brilliantly convey their unparalleled sonic scope.

Launching the collection in striking fashion, the otherworldly textures of 'Thus I' set a dramatic tone, with off-kilter melodies and divergent synths entwined over jagged drums across a captivating arrangement. The energy effortlessly rises as we arrive among the fervour of 'We Are All Plausible Characters', where pounding rhythms power hyperactive melodies into a life-affirming crescendo of boundless vigour, with dissonant swells soaring above a densely woven bed.

Maintaining the genre-defying that encapsulates the Xploding Plastix catalogue, 'Dim Calculations' sees an abstract top-line meandering over throbbing drums and hyper-atmospheric harmonics as the elastic rhythm gently disorientates. Arriving like an alien lullaby, 'Healing A Social Wound' entrances as it unfurls, with bittersweet harmonies gliding over rolling drums and thick synth bass.

Drifting ever further into the unknown, the haunting swirls and aberrant rhythms of 'No Rebooting' prove powerfully affecting as the brooding musicality morphs through mood-altering waves, before the cinematic wonder of 'I Would Prefer Not To' blends poignant strings with floating melodics over an arresting arrangement.

The quick-fire rhythms of 'Optimal Bread' provide a bracing change of pace, landing like an off-world anthem as the mighty lead melody soars into the stratosphere, while 'I Only Have To Be Faster Than You' bursts into life with heavy synth textures cascading over erratic drums and snarling bass.

Finally, 'Thus You' completes the narrative arc, its aberrant motifs rising and falling for a mysteriously satisfying reprise.

Bold, engaging, and immaculately produced, 'Thus' is a vivid reminder of just how much we missed Xploding Plastix as they went about their respective journeys — and how glad we are that they found their way back into the studio to reconvene.

PREMIERE : Xploding Plastix - Optimal Bread

He's back. After a break that felt like an eternity, @Cuthead has finally awoken from his creative beauty sleep to check up on his home base Uncanny Valley with his new album THE DETOUR. To avoid overexciting everyone’s attention span, the album is spread over four parts. And he's definitely not coming back as a cheapskate since the album is full of gifts that true Cuthead fans desire. In other words, he does what he does best: Blasting out slick tracks that oscillate between laid-back underground hip-hop, sample heavy house and vintage acid, but with enough surprises along the way. The tracks were created over the last few years, including some jams from his live set that he made while travelling or in a hotel.

As soon as the typical cozy, warm chords kick in during the INTRO of The Detour Part 1, you immediately feel at home again in Cuthead's world, where it's always Saturday afternoon and laid-back jams drip out of the speakers (at least on two of the four parts). On top of that, Chester Watson from St. Louis (one of Cuthead's absolute favorite rappers) provided a feature. With his distinctive voice and dreamy flow, Chester explains in not one but two versions of PROCEED how to carry on and stay relaxed despite adverse circumstances. TOUR DE FRANCE, on the other hand, is a trapstrumental for the masses in which a hi-hat thunderstorm is intertwined with a wind sample that constantly twists around itself.

The second in Cuthead's tetralogy is what we can certainly call a house monster. It starts with a track named after one of Cuthead’s special skills: MPC JAM. With its filter attacks and unmistakable drops, the track builds on Cuthead's great house floor fillers, leaving no ass standing still. SUNDAY 5 PM enters the floor like a bird of paradise with room-filling disco strings, before SPACED OUT follows with Theo Parrish-like grooves. MIDNIGHT ROUTE closes The Detour Part 2 with broken beats and an unusual but irresistible electronic bassline.

The opener of the third part once again praises the old promise of the House Nation, not without ZUBU being refined with the very own Cuthead spin, which definitely puts the track on a techno floor as well. POWER ACID lives up to its name and comes across as a classic warehouse acid screw that takes every rave to the edge. Understatement is also not required with PARTY LIKE IT'S 99. After all, every Saturday afternoon is followed by a Saturday night and a piano house bomb with a little ounce of acid always goes down well on such an occasion.

The final chapter of THE DETOUR opens promisingly and in typical Cuthead style with the aptly titled BONKERS and the kind of weirder head-nodding beat that only the Dresden resident can squeeze out of his samples. In LISOLEIL, Malone the Chemist drops his lines over what feels like an aquatic jazz foundation. Cuthead spotted the Canadian rapper when he posted a freestyle under a tweet from Flying Lotus. After that, the snares are turned up again in the sample fest that is FOXY. OUTRO is almost epic by Cuthead standards and could easily be the soundtrack to a modern giallo film.

The album is accompanied by beautiful animations created in collaboration between illustrator Robert Deutsch and animator Tobias Kramer.
