This is the ethos behind Ronin Arkestra. Formed in Tokyo in 2017, Ronin Arkestra brings together some of the finest and most creative players in Japan’s Jazz and and electronic scene. The collective includes members of Kyoto Jazz Sextet, WONK, Cro-Magnon, Root Soul, Sleepwalker, Sauce81, Kyoto Jazz Massive and, of course, band leader Mark de Clive Lowe. 

Kicking it all off is ‘Stranger Searching’, where lush electronics meet beautifully executed Jazz in full story mode. A constantly driving beat push this track along through its various chapters, with each member of the band given time tell their tale. Horns from Shinpei Ruike, Kohei Ando and Wataru Hamasaki tie everything together in beautiful harmony.

International Amateur Rifle shooting champion, Julio Bashmore, has just returned victorious from the world championships in Helsinki, Finland. Whilst there he was inspired by the local landscape and has delivered these two beautifully Scandinavian ice cold classics.
The release is number three in a five part series of coloured 10" vinyl, strictly limited to 350 copies each. All vinyl are coloured and numbered, with hand screen-printed sleeves.
Each vinyl order includes a download code for instant MP3 / FLAC / WAV format.

Ana Roxanne is an intersex Southeast Asian musician based in Los Angeles. Born & raised in the Bay Area to immigrant parents, Ana's love for music and singing began through her mother's cd collection of 80's/90's R&B divas. Raised in the catholic church, she became a devout choir nerd and found any opportunity to sing, whether for religious mass, the jazz ensemble of her catholic high school, or karaoke at family gatherings. Her commitment to singing led her to a brief stint at a vocational jazz program in the cornfields of the midwest; in a remote town of 7,000 people, she began a formal study of jazz and classical music. During these years she would tour with her jazz and chamber ensembles to beautiful old cathedrals in nearby cities and became enamored with the sacredness of choral music, as well as the enveloping sound of harmony. 

A near death experience, too, served as a connection between music and spirituality, and music as a healing art after facing tragedy. 

In 2013, Ana was also fortunate enough to spend a few months in Uttarkhand, India where she met an incredible voice teacher who introduced her to classical Hindustani singing. Living and studying with this teacher deeply impacted her outlook on the voice as art. It was there that she began to see the singer - the Diva - as a symbol of divinity; that the unique power of one's voice comes from the vulnerability of using the body as an instrument. Be it romance, love, or worship of a deity - in order to access such depths of emotional expression, one must be willing to be intensely vulnerable, lay one's heart in the open air, expose what is kept hidden. This brief study was the catalyst that led her to finish her music study at the experimental Mills College in Oakland, CA, where she began to combine all of these influences into her current self-titled project. This album ~~~ was created during her last years residing in the Bay Area, a tribute to the great musicians who inspired her and the landscape where she spent her formative years. 

In addition to the worship of R&B and pop divas, Ana's current practice explores themes of gender & identity. In October of 2018, she decided to come out publicly as intersex, and is dedicated to being a voice for her community and speaking out about social justice for intersex youth.

London based record label and DIY art collective femme culture are back again working alongside UN Women to curate the HeforShe compilation,  a beautiful body of work released in celebration of gender equality and women’s empowerment. 

Last year the released tracks from Octo Octa , Finn and Anastasia Kristensen. And now they are back with a release from the amazing Lone. 

All proceeds going to the HeForShe x UN Women charity.

Johannes is wooing Conga Fever’s sleeper hit “Arabian Guy” down into           the basement and into disco territory. While preserving the hypnotic          deepness of the original track, he adds a fluttering bass line and            glistening melody swatches.

Barranquilla, Colombia is where we’re headed today with Vagabundo Social Club’s new EP on Whiskey Disco offshoot Lovedancing entitled Pambelé. This one is geared right up for the summer daytime vibes, patios and boat parties alike. A three track affair, we’ve got the lowdown for you on the A1 and title track today. 

Pambelé starts off with some original vocals and a super groovy bass line. As expected for this kind of vibe, percussion joins the fold and helps get things rolling. A jazzy organ line takes over while the vox continue to loop. The organ continues to build throughout the track, going from a subdued bit to a full fledged solo, at one point giving way to a synth lead that takes us into the break. The great arrangement of the track is what keeps you moving throughout its peaks and valleys.
