Nightingales for two solo violins and orchestra was a consortium work for UWSO and the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, for Eleanor Bartsch and Ariana Kim, the great soloists. The work is a reflection of how nature preservers no matter the chaos or lunacy of humans. The birds -the soloists- percussion and harp, slowly but surely take over the whole after reaches climactic heights of action. Aurora is about the Northern lights and attempts to make the most out of the endless colors of the flute while showing of the possible virtuosity of this amazing instrument. In Conor Nelson's hands the work shines!

Program Note
Second Sight is a dreamlike work that explores ethereal material that floats in and out, returns and is transformed. The material once heard, is then repeated kaleidoscopically - except for a central dance section - to evoke a feeling of déjà vu, or musical “clairvoyance”
This dreamlike landscape features various colors and textural characteristics of the harp and seeks to feature the beauty of the instrument and more specifically, Elisabeth Remy Johnson’s great gifts as an artist and soloist.
