The Wound composed and conducted by Alex Van Sant. The text is assembled from excerpts from two poems by Emily Dickinson (1233 and 1188) and two letters she wrote to her lover Susan Gilbert in 1852. Performed on November 3rd 2023 by Choral Collective at Centre des Services Communautaires du Monastère in Montreal, Quebec. Thanks to Choral Collective, McGill Choral Studies, and McGill University Graduate and Professional Studies Student Engagement Fund.

Walt Whitman und Emily Dickinson waren die zentralen Figuren der amerikanischen Lyrik des 19. Jahrhunderts und haben ikonische Gedichte verfasst, die oft zu Vertonungen angeregt haben. Während Whitmans Poetologie die schier endlosen Graslandschaften der amerikanischen Prärie beschwört, beschreibt Dickinson symbolisch aufgeladene wie phantasmagorisch absurde Sprachwelten, die die literarischen Konventionen ihrer Zeit weit hinter sich lassen. Im Sinne dieses Spektrums verstehen sich auch die vorliegenden Vertonungen von Joachim Brügge für Sopran und Streichtrio mit Flöte und teilweise Harfe, wobei zudem einzelne Gedichte die Inspiration für einige Instrumentalstücke bilden. Ferner wird mit Lousia May Alcott eine weitere amerikanische Schriftstellerin und Dichterin adressiert, die mit der Trias Little Women als Begründerin des amerikanischen Jugendbuches angesehen werden kann. Gerade angesichts der aktuellen politischen Verwerfungen und Zuspitzungen in Amerika verkörpert diese amerikanische Lyrik mehr denn je die Idee eines moralischen Gewissens Amerikas – als ein übergreifendes Respektieren von Demokratie und Bürgerrechten. Joachim Brügge Nach einem Studium der Musik an der Musikhochschule Lübeck weiterer beruflicher Werdegang als Musikwissenschaftler an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Als Komponist eine enge Verbindung zur amerikanischen Musik, so zu hören in der CD Music For Strings, mit den Salzburg Chamber Soloists (MDG, 2014). Sein Komponieren ist ferner wiederholt bestimmt gewesen durch die Auseinandersetzung mit ihn inspirierenden Werken – in den vorliegenden Liedern etwa als Assimilation von J.S. Bach in Roaming in Thoughts oder R. Schumann in Safe in their Alabaster Chambers und The Past is such a curious creature.

I composed this piece for a poetry short film by filmmaker and friend Gloria Regonesi. Her film includes found VHS homevideo footage and is inspired by the poem "1287: In this Short Life" by American poet Emily Dickinson, written between 1861 and 1865. This is a rework and the official version of the film

Camera Sambô nasce dall'antico ricordo di sé.
Pellegrinaggio in terra straniera, divenuta patria.
Inestinguibile forza, verde canto che sospinge il fiore.

Bentornato nella tua dimora.

Nato sulle verdi colline di Moncalieri (Torino), il progetto artistico Camera Sambô mette insieme tre eclettiche personalità: la composizione musicale, attraverso la danza dell'espressione creativa, spazia dal cantautorato alle sonorità elettroniche con un gusto per la sperimentazione, passando per la musica classica.

L'ecletticità del trio li vede inseriti nel contesto naturalistico del paesaggio che abitano, dove lavorano anche nella loro azienda agricola biologica che ospita il piccolo agriturismo "Val Cenasco Landhouse" a Moncalieri, luogo di incontro e condivisione di arti molteplici e antichi mestieri.

Born on the green hills of Italy, in Moncalieri (Turin), the Camera Sambô artistic project links together three eclectic personalities: the musical composition, through the dance of creative expression, ranges from songwriting to electronic sounds with a tension toward experimentation, passing through classical music. 

The trio's eclecticism fits them into the naturalistic context of the countryside they live in, where they also work on their organic farm with a small agritourism: "Val Cenasco Landhouse" in Moncalieri, Turin, a place for meeting and sharing multiple arts and ancient crafts.

Born Woolfinius Jackson Whürl to two itinerate circus gymnasts, Woolfin would grow tired of the performance life and would go on to seek quieter pastures as a painter and later a writer.

Als österreichischer Ableger des tschechisch/englischen Schallplattenproduzenten gleichen Namens wurde Gramola im Jahr 1924 in Wien gegründet und ist seit damals in allen Tätigkeitsbereichen rund um die Klassische Musik aktiv. Der Schwerpunkt hat sich in den letzten Jahren auf die CD-Produktion verlagert und Gramola ist mit etwa 30 Produktionen jährlich schon seit einiger Zeit Österreichs Klassikproduzent mit der höchsten Produktionsrate. Gramola hatte zunächst natürlich die großen Komponisten der Wiener Klassik, wie Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven und Schubert, im Focus. Im Vordergrund der Produktionsaktivitäten steht jetzt aber auch die Förderung junger österreichischer Musiker und nicht zuletzt die Zusammenarbeit mit "Exilarte", die sich der Musik ermordeter und exilierter Komponisten widmet.

Rosie Marie Brown was started in 2022 as the solo project of singer-songwriter Isabelle "Rosie" Brown (CH/USA), born in the mountains of the quaint Rhine Valley. Her songs are candid letters that have not been sent, the soul-stripping, fearless expression of a chronically introverted human being. Deeply influenced by all matters of Rock, 70s Folk and Indie artists, Rosie's music can be described as indie-inspired folk, silently pregnant with the blues. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes angry, sometimes sad, always captivating. In 2024, her partner Tom Bensley (AUS) joined on the Bass Guitar and the two are currently working on more songs.

Le Cercle des Musiques Disparues existe sous deux formes en alternance : 1) un atelier-concert bimenstriel et itinérant en Indre-et-Loire, 2) une émission radiophonique qui prolonge ce rendez-vous physique et le rend accessible partout sur la planète.
