A Dub Techno Journey is a compilation that traverses Dantes circles of Hell, transforming them into hypnotic and profound soundscapes. Each track represents a canto from Dantes Inferno, interpreted by producers from different parts of the world, united by a shared sensitivity for dub techno vibrations. The idea was conceived by Francesco Tamburrano, who envisioned a musical journey blending literature and sonic exploration, and took shape through the collaboration with the label Superordinate, always attentive to visionary projects with an international scope. The result is a dark and immersive path, where enveloping basslines and deep echoes guide the listener on a sonic pilgrimage through Dantes Inferno.

Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes Sinan Arsan to the label for his debut single ‘Ebonise’. Based in Ankara, the Turkish artist first came to out attention late last year with a release on Stellar Fountain’s Astrowave division. Subsequent offerings on Big Bells, Droid9 South America, Future Avenue and Mistique Music have made for a great 2020 thus far. Now following a contribution to Transensations ‘Transenses II’ collection, Sinan lands on Soundteller with a new single alongside remixes from Kenan Savrun and Nacres.

Already known for his trippy progressive sound, Sinan continues to explore that ethos here with ‘Ebonise’. Groovy and atmospheric in equal measure, it’s charged foundation and glassy clusters immediately grab your attention. Spacey arps and driving percussion add momentum across the first act, as vocal wails bring a spiritual context coming into the break. The centrepiece only enhances the meditative qualities of the track, building tension through subtle modulation and bassy swells, before percussive rides spark a huge drop and exhilarating final act.

Fellow countryman Kenan Savrun returns to Soundteller and provides the first remix. Fresh off releases for Another Life Music and Movement Recordings, the Ankara resident goes all out with a fiery peak time interpretation that really delivers. Layered beats, muscular basslines and a vortex of tripped out audio make this a production to get truly lost in. There are few tracks that capture the magic of what progressive music was nearly 20 years ago but this does that quite successfully. Think John Digweed Delta Heavy Essential Mix and this is not far off from what was resonating so strongly at the time. Massive remix from Kenan.

Rounding out the release and completing this all Turkish affair is Nacres who provides the second and final interpretation. Having appeared on the label’s Vibrant Vibeland #10 collection in May of this year, Nacres has also found a home on Bonzai Records, Deepersense Music and Massive Harmony Records. Now returning to Soundteller for his first remix, Nacres puts his own unique twist on ‘Ebonise’. Sitting as a lovely complement to the original the Istanbul resident takes the edge off just a touch for a floaty yet still incredibly groovy interpretation. Meandering synths add just the right amount of tension as they blanket the chugging rhythms and effervescent textures, before getting washed away into a tranquil break and percussive driven finale. A lovely interpretation from Nacres which caps off this exciting release from Soundteller Records, proving that progressive music is still flourishing in Turkey. Highly recommended.

The always fantastic Saint Petersburg bound producer Ewan Rill makes a welcome return to our PHW Elements family with another 2 originals under his belt. Being one of the most productive artists out there in the genre, creating a huge amount of deep driven progressive music that blends from progressive house to melodic techno he once again strikes with full power.

As the lead track of this EP we have a really quirky and well produced number baptized as “Population”. It’s a well driven progressivE house production packed with really deep and moody textures that blends perfectly with the flying melodic hooks. There is a bit of techno elements in it as well to make it even more interesting and we do love everything about this beauty. 

On remix duty we welcome back Italian native Elven Of July to the label. We have always had great thoughts about Augusto as he is a producer, very selective with his sounds and blends his music with super cool textures and his creative mindset. This rebuild is no exception as he is on roll from start to finish. This lean more to the melodic house & techno genre with his crisp sounding percussion work and creative build up. If the deeper side with atmosphere is your thing, well, don’t miss out since he is back and he strikes with full power. 

We also have another debut on the label and one that we had on our radar for a long time and when we got the chance to bring on Australian female producer and DJ Ebony Willis, we just couldn’t resist. We are thrilled to see her team up with us and hopefully you are a few more that will get to know her music through this as well. With a big love for melodic techno music, she strikes with an army of sounds through this Ewan Rill remake. It has great pace, energy and that melodic progression throughout this stunning journey. We are so thrilled over this one and we hope for a lot more from her coming our way really soon.

We also see a second original from Ewan Rill to spice things up even more. Through “My Ways” he continues to showcase his full on journey in the genre and we do feel this is another biggie from him, don’t miss out.

When we first heard the demo of "I'm Back", we knew that Alan Prosser's music had a home at Pangea. In a music career that has spanned 20 years, Alan Prosser has earned quite a name for himself in the progressive house scene with music and remixes that are featured on iconic labels such as 'The Ministry of Sound', 'Fantazia' and 'Global Underground'. Alan's sound right now can be best described as a tech/progressive housed fusion with a sound in between uplifting percussion and deep dark bass line grooves. The truth is that Alan's sound has been influenced highly from the magic that takes place in Ibiza each Summer, and although Alan always keeps the tougher edge in his productions, he is always trying to push and expand his musical boundaries. Pangea is proud to add Alan as an artist to our label roster, and expect to hear more from Alan on our label and others soon.

Those on remix duties for "I'm Back" did not disappoint! Micah Paul Lukasewich and Kiz Pattison are two of the hottest artists in the scene right now. Both boast recent releases on Dave Seaman's and Steve Parry's Selador Recordings in the UK, and Kiz's debut artist album on the iconic and much revered Renaissance Recordings music label released earlier this year was extremely well done and very well received. Micah and Kiz's collaboration "Beam of Light" was championed by superstar DJ Sasha pretty much all 2020, and the track is widely regarded as one of the best club songs to come out this year. Currently, both Micah and Kiz currently have releases with major labels in the works, so Pangea was lucky enough to get these two back on the same package before all hell broke loose! Here, Micah and Kiz turn in remixes of "I'm Back" with their signature sounds, with Micah treading to dirtier territory than we are used to hearing, and Kiz showing off his malicious yet chunky energetic sound. Label boss DJ Samer, who is fresh off his widely acclaimed release for John Digweed's Quattro album on Bedrock, turns in a remix which can be described best as a blast of energy laden synth work in between an acid pattern and a hypnotic bass line. Last but definitely not least, Ranj Kaler joins the Pangea label after years of showing huge support for Pangea on his London Music Radio and turns in a remix that many DJs will both support and applaud as his debut remix. On his return Rafa'EL leads with the outstanding 'Diopside'; a stunning driving melodic progressive house affair. The track utilizes a deep groove as foundation, underpinned by a profound bass and smooth synth chords that gradually ease their way to the summit. Unified by a relentless kick drum and dusky atmospheric emotion, the composition climaxes by adding recurrent percussive elements and soft soaked melodies that come together to create a structured sphere of sonic satisfaction. Clever synth phrases complete the picture and create an ingeniously worked piece of art.

The electronica downtempo soundscapes of the accompanying title track 'A Matter of Time' round off this spectacular release. Rafa'EL's influences are immediately evident as subtle freeform concepts drift through percussive inspired instrumentations. Rippling melodies trip along a smooth groove that anchors an auricular montage to create a special sonic infused moment, accompanied by a subtle chord line that is going to leave a mark on your aural perception.
