So exited to share my closing DJ set at Ecstatic Dance Melbourne's 2023 finale! The diverse crowd and fluid dance styles created a dynamic atmosphere that went from meditation through to full blown cathartic release. My set, spanning various genres, resonated with the engaged audience, blurring the line between tempos and energetic dynamics, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present. It was a transformative and magical conclusion to a year filled with connection and unity.

We begin the practice in a meditative state hence ambient, organic and downtempo sounds proceed the first part of all my Ecstatic Dance mixes at Ecstatic Dance Melbourne until Madhu opens. If necessary you can fast forward to around 50 minutes in to where uptempo beats drop after this and we swing into a dance floor grove elevating, then finding ecstasis or our peak moments together around 1 hour 40 minutes, then ending in sultry solstice prayerful guidance by the wonderful Madhu Honey once again. In those challenging times of transformation and chaotic shifts we have to be aware that we are co-creating our reality collectively and individually from the inside out. Every thought and every emotion creates a frequency that interacts with the quantum field which weaves new realities into the holographic projection.

Every sound in this Sound Journey is tuned to A = 444 Hz which results in a C vibrating at 528 Hz exactly. It contains solfeggio tuning fork recordings as well as pure tone frequency drones.

This guided Sound Healing Journey was created as a tool to cultivate trust, to remember our essence, to find strength and love in our connection with our great mother and to let go of limiting old beliefs and to harmonize discordant energy patterns.

We will connect with our breath, our bodies and the earth, open our hearts and let light shine on our shadows in order to feel stuck emotions and clear energy blockages.

This Journey features 111 Hz as an anchor to shift the focus from the logical left brain into the intuitive right side of the brain which allows us to get into a deeper meditative state and become more open to connect with our imagination which is helpful to re-program and shift negative beliefs.

Isochronic tones also assist the entrain the Brain first into a relaxed alpha state and later into a deep theta state of healing and deep relaxation.

The 528 Hz frequency pure tone is being pulsed throughout the whole journey as well as tuning fork recordings. This solfeggio frequency is known for activating our highest potential within our DNA and it also restructures the water in our cells.

This Ecstatic Dance was recorded in a very magic place near Cadi Mountains in Catalonia.
The title of the session, Lluniques, has a double meaning in Catalan, since it refers to the moon and also to being unique. It is also the name of a group formed by two beautiful souls, who organized with a lot of love this day full of dance, music and cocoa medicine.

Lluniques

Recorded live at the Sweet's Ballroom in Oakland, California. Home of one of the first Ecstatic Dance communities, on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

This day was an incredible experience. Though it was only 1 of the 17 dances I played in under 25 days along my West Coast ecstatic dance tour, this one was special. Oakland and Sweet's Ballroom is home to one of the first Ecstatic Dances ever. It was here, inspired by what was originally created at Kalani on the Big Island of Hawaii, that a large enough community was slowly built in the Bay Area of California to inspire others and help spread Ecstatic Dance around the world.

Over the last few years, I have had the privilege to DJ at around 80 Ecstatic Dance communities around the world, and see this widespread ecstatic vibe spread far and wide.

This is why this mix is dedicated to the Oakland community of Ecstatic Dancers. Each part of this set includes themes of Sweet, Oakland, and California. With rap artists such as Too Short, Digable Planets, and Childish Gambino, to wise greats such as Bob Marley, Tems, and Tupac. This set is both high energy and deep and bassy. With lots of lyrics and effects. 

I owe a lot of gratitude to the Oakland dance scene and this was an attempt to give the dancers a great vibe to go wild to. It was a vibe! The day was a big energy and the dancers met with high regard. It was an honor. Thanks to all who were there that day to be a part of the experience and thanks to all the dancers that show up throughout the years from day one until now. You have my heart.

DJ Abuelita is a love letter to my mexican ancestors. It is a blend of sounds from ancient Mexico & celebratory sounds of the indigenous voices of Latin America & North America. Mixing world, ancient, & contemporary sounds to invoke a relatable modernness with deep roots into the earth and cultura. The intention is to take the listener on a journey where they feel wrapped in the warm blanket of the culture in this music through being immersed in expressive rhythms & sounds that invoke movement, dance, & meditative motion. Accompanying a collection of different songs carefully curated by myself, DJ Abuelita sets also feature some original music & poetry of my own (Jade Sanchez) woven in the mix for a more personal touch & extra dose of feminine energy. The intention for this project is for it to be offered in select ceremonial containers, dance spaces, & womens gatherings. I hope you enjoy this deep heart offering from my soul to yours.
